Man Seriously Injured in High-Speed Motorbike Collision with British National in Pattaya
Picture from responders. A serious road crash occurred at approximately 20:10 on 8 February when a high-speed motorcycle crashed into a saloon car at a Y-junction in Soi Nongkrabok, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung. Local police from Nong Prue station, along with rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and medical personnel from Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, responded urgently to the scene. At the site of the crash, officers found a black Honda Wave 125i motorcycle (registration from Chonburi) damaged after careering into roadside bushes. Two injured individuals lay on the road. The rider, identified as Thanathon Khamhaeng, 46, a Makro supermarket employee, sustained chest injuries and was semi-conscious. His passenger, an unidentified Thai man, suffered critical injuries. Rescue teams provided immediate first aid before rushing both victims to hospital. The other vehicle involved, a black Toyota saloon (registration from Chonburi), sustained damage to its front right side, including a shattered windshield. The driver, Mr Verahramian Hormoz, 57, a British national, remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities. A witness reported that they had been driving behind the Toyota when it slowed down at the Y-junction. Suddenly, the motorcycle, travelling at high speed, collided head-on with the front of the car, sending the riders flying in different directions. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. -- 2025-02-10 -

Some tax filing issues
Absolutely correct . ALL foreigners who spend 180 days or more in Thailand "MUST" obtain a TIN number AND file a tax return . All one has to do is disclose ALL monenies brought into Thailand during the tax year - preferably showing details ie pension with supporting evidence . It will be up to the tax office to decide if any taxes due on " assessible " income/monies received ! Very simple really . -

Labour’s Attack on Academies Will Harm the Future of Education
I don't think that's the case, but happy for someone better qualified than me to pitch in. I don't believe parents pay for their children to attend such a school. I've read articles on schools that opted to become an academy to get themselves away from political interference or to provide more specialist education for their local area. In years gone by there was a feeling that the UK education system wanted all of the children to be academically smart, to become doctors, lawyers or financiers. All to the detriment of practical trades like building, plumbing, mechanics or electricians. There a big shortage of such skills in the UK, whilst there are thousands of young adults with university degrees that cannot get a job in their chosen area due to an over-supply of graduates. Academies can focus on practical trades rather than academics due to the demographics in their area. Sometimes a school is seen as a failing school as the pupils don't get high grades in traditional academic subjects like maths, sciences or English literature, but actually the children are clever in a different way (practical skills rather than academic). So the school can opt out of the local education authority, becomes an academy and provides better/more appropriate education for the children in their area. The French, for example, has a similar system that streams pupils down the best route for their abilities, rather than try to push all of their children down a single path. Wikipedia has some information on Acadamies - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_(English_school) A bit of a ramble but hope this makes sense.
