PHUKET: Phuket health officials have yet to locate 40 tourists who have arrived in Phuket since Nov 15 in their campaign to track down any new arrivals who may have brought the Omicron variant of COVID-19 to the island.

Dr Kusak Kiattikoon, Chief of the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO), announced this morning (Dec 2) that 126 people had arrived in Phuket from South Africa and four had arrived from Namibia since Nov 15.

Since then, of the 130, 58 had already returned home, Dr Kusak said.

It might be already too late. WHO reported it has spread to 20 countries today.

Oh dear..........I hope this variant doesn't find its way back to China.......with a poorly vaccinated population and an R value of 2....it would wreak havoc.

I sense a cunning plan by the Chinese to ban entry to all countries winter Olympic athletes and claim Omicron risk to take the gold . silver and bronze Medals in all events? Can see the medal haul now.

1. China.

They came here with the intention to deliberately ruin Thailand's economy . They are busy 'spreading' now ...

Good luck ...

I can’t really see the point of tracking down people as far back as 15 November. If they were positive when they arrived, many would be over it by now and in any case would have started community transmission if they were positive. Test and trace would be impossible even if Phuket was doing that, which they most certainly are not. Up to this month I didn’t know any one who tested positive, in the last 10 days 5 people living in my street have tested positive from three households. Zero attempt by the authorities to test and trace. Two isolated at home because they did their own atk tests, three sent to quarantine hotel.

I thought only Nigerian Scammers were invisible to the RTP

So much for TM 30 and 90 day reports, apparently they don’t work????

No, it's a song by The Jam.

Complete Nonsense. They have already been processed. Cannot change a completed personal test process. Already past the transmission phase anyway. Thai Problem that so many Thais are not vaxxed or vaxxed with Sinovac. Nothing to do with the dirty foreigners ….this time…..oh but wait …

They should look during the daytime. Hard to see at night.

I would prefer western countries boycott the Beijing Olympics...as part of the price China should pay for their intrepid virus exporting "achievements".

Many of them pre-covid were usually known to hang out near Nana and now that Khao San Road is sort of open, they may have moved there. They tend to operate their own versions of a "night market"...
