What's actually very sad is  narrow minded people making nonsense comments simply because they are unable to grasp the big picture. People who don't grasp that the police are 100% justified in what they are actually trying to do - prevent the spread of covid and to contain existing outbreaks. Very sad when people  cannot grasp that the government is not doing this without regard to economic consequences, but simply doing everything, no stone unturned, that can and must be done for the sake of public health. What's sad is that the government and police have every right, moral and legal, to exercise their own judgment as to what needs to be done. I think statements such as yours are not even fully honest - I think you don't like that your own access, and that of your buddies,  to open bars and alcohol consumption are restricted. I hear such habitual drinkers in my apartment continuously whining about not being able to go out on their drinking binges, and these guys are not suffering economically. They are simply selfish. I come from a country which has seen 700,000+ deaths from covid, and would love to have seen identical measures enforced, which would have prevented those deaths. No doubt this is an economic hardship, but that is partly because so many businesses in Thailand depend on the spending of tourists and drinkers. This is simply an unfortunate reality and not something you can blame on the government. But since blaming and ridiculing the Thai government is popular sport among commenters, it's a sad irony that those very complainers are actually safer for the actions of the police and government. So that is what's "very sad" . 

Learn to live with it.
Example:
During the New Year holidays hold a sales promotion like "Buy 1 pair of N*k* - get 2 pairs for free"
After your shop was crowded with customers several days and your staff was working OT you get a call that some of your customers tested positive.
Learned what?
Send your staff for testing 3 days after the call while you count your money.
No BS, happened in CM.

"TRYING" to stop the spread of Omicron is like trying to catch flies with chicken wire.

Meanwhile the rest of the world is taking a sensible approach and educating the people how to live with it and take care of themselves. When the tourist industry in Thailand is decimated for the next 5 -10 years who will the Government blame. They will not accept the responsibility.

If he's from the UK I'd say that both leaders are just as bad as each other. Not sure about the US, possibly the same...

however, they must stop serving alcohol at 9pm

I’ve now ceased to be amazed at the vacuous nature and lack of critical thinking existing in the Thai ????. Hanlon’s razor combined with the "Thick Gene" explains most of it.
