Thai police in Omicron alert - crackdowns nationwide to stop spread of variant after PM's order

Lockdowns kill far more than covid. Sweden, which famously did not lockdown, had the lowest rate of excess deaths in Europe last year. Statistics Canada reported that after the initial wave in spring 2020, lockdowns caused more deaths than covid due to suicides, drug od, untreated cancers etc.

Antarctica had an outbreak despite quarantines, 100% vax and multiple PCR tests.  Avoiding contact with others might help but all other measures are just theater.

That say all the world's a stage?

Many have said Thailand was slow to react because of a lack of testing despite the fact that Omicron soon showed up in the kingdom.

It wasn't slow... it wanted a few baht in the till over the New Year.

That little profit will soon be swallowed up with the huge health care cost.

Learn to live with it.
Example:
During the New Year holidays hold a sales promotion like "Buy 1 pair of N*k* - get 2 pairs for free"
After your shop was crowded with customers several days and your staff was working OT you get a call that some of your customers tested positive.
Learned what?
Send your staff for testing 3 days after the call while you count your money.
No BS, happened in CM.

Jonathon Smith omitted one similarity between the 700,000 deaths in his country and the current situation in Thailand. THE ABILITY of the person running the country to tell the truth and know how to Manage the PROBLEMS.

If he's from the UK I'd say that both leaders are just as bad as each other. Not sure about the US, possibly the same...

Police ordered to enforce the law, now.

Amazing.

That because the Thai police know exactly that the Covid will comes active after 9pm.

not read all replies , but AFAIK, theres no requirement for restaurants or those masquerading to be so,  to "close" at 9pm

however, they must stop serving alcohol at 9pm

i know several places where regular drinkers will order 3 drinks for themselves at 20.55

More panic from the Muppet in chief, knee jerk reaction yet again.

Unfortunately for the dumb in charge the virus cannot be stopped because it doesn't listen or understand mumbo jumbo from anyone, whether it be the BiB, certificates, licences or the government.

This can't be "stopped".

How mentally confused can one be!

Slowed down at best for a very high price.

I’ve now ceased to be amazed at the vacuous nature and lack of critical thinking existing in the Thai ????. Hanlon’s razor combined with the "Thick Gene" explains most of it.
