THAI looking to resume most routes by end of April, return to ‘normalcy’ by mid-year

Thai Airways is looking to resume most of its international routes by the end of April, high level sources in the company told Thai Enquirer on Monday.

 

The airlines has suspended most of its international routes due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and have only resumed international travel in Q4 2021.

 

However, analysts inside the company predict that the spread of Omicron coupled with countries reopening their borders from restriction will result in a mid-year resumption of normalcy for many of their most popular routes.

They certainly need to start thinking about ramping up.  Nobody can predict what will happen but it's becoming more likely that this is indeed the end of the pandemic.  How fast it comes back is anyone's guess.  

 

The time frame is far too fast I think.  Of course what the hell do I know or any one of us?

There's one item that seems to be missing IMHO.

 

Have they changed the management team, all levels?

 

If they haven't then kiss chances of any change goodbye, they will just resume their inwards thinking, their previous/old attitudes to customers and service, their old behaviors of no real focus on customers and comparitively poor service, and no clear answers. 

 

We wait and see. But I won't see it because I will never ever take a Thai flight again even if there's a 90% discount!

"Normalcy by mid year" so the nepotism and fraud is back on the runway. 

"Normalcy" is never coming back. And corruption will never leave.

The fact they're still flying at all is corrupt in itself.

The acid test for many airlines who showed their true regard for customers over the last couple of years.

 

The reality is, we have a choice. Singapore, Qatar, ANA and others did the right thing. Thai Airways and some others left their customers for dead and still have their money.

 

Beyond the moral compass, I would not choose to fly a bankrupt airline that has kept it's planes rusting on the tarmac in Bangkok and trying to shave off every bhat in costs, which no doubt includes maintenance to some degree. There is a reason other airlines parked their planes in arid deserts.

Won't even consider flying Thai until my family gets the refund owed for flights cancelled 2 years ago.

The high-so circles are already dancing, clapping and ululating with joy as Thai Airways' return to "normalcy" certainly can mean only one thing for them: free first-class tickets "as normal".

Just flew back to London on Thai. It was a lot busier than the last one I took in November., but still not full. Mainly tourists heading home from holiday, but a lot of Thais on board as well.

 

It does have one advantage in being the only direct flight to the UK at the moment.

I'll avoid THAI wherever possible.

 

Too many stories of them not refunding cancelled flights from last year. Difficult to trust them after that. I find EVA much better.

May be I can  impound one of their planes landing in Zurich until I get the refund for my canceled return flight two years ago.

Thailand including Thai Airways has lost credibility its fleet has been reduced to old outdated Air Craft very expensive to operate so there is no way they can get back the routes and respect they had prior to the Pandemic they are charging double fares of other airlines with modern fleets and owe so many customers money for cancelled flights. The same applies to the Thai Tourism as a whole.

So what will that mean for inbound travelers?

Back to normal or still have the rediculous hurdles and impositions to navigate.

Also does that mean all establishments can expect to open as normal without restrictions?

And when they bring down the price of the return flights to the UK to the price I paid two years ago I would consider using them to use my voucher that they gave to me when my flight was cancelled. At the moment their fares are way more expensive than other airlines and more than 8000 baht I paid for the flight that got cancelled. Insurance was a scam as well as they refused to pay out because it was as they stated it was cancelled because of covid. The insurance was taken out before the existance of covid. Total scam.

They might want to consider refunding some of the thousands of passengers who have been waiting for cash they forked out some years ago for flights on Thai, only to have them cancelled, with no sign of their cash back.

I've been flying in and out of BKK during Covid times. The Thai planes have been sitting on the tarmac for 2 years with no maintenance. The are dirty on the outside and probably have mildew on the inside. It's going to take a lot longer than a couple of months (and a huge amount of Baht) to get them airworthy again.

The big question is: does Thai Airways lose more money when it's flying normally or when it's grounded by Covid?

Has Taiwan opened there borders, the last time I tried EVA they were not flying

Sure, just go ahead into normality. Wondering, where the cockpit crews kept their minimum flying hours up and running over the last two years. 

So, for those who are still waiting for eventual refunds - take the jump, all the others have the choice!
