Local studies show that a third booster shot will better prevent death from Covid-19 than two doses, as vaccine effectiveness will drop over time, the government said on Monday.

 

“Out of the 26 Covid fatalities today, 53 per cent, or 14 people, were unvaccinated,” said Dr Apisamai Srirangsan, a spokeswoman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

 

“Two persons were vaccinated with two doses, but the last time they were vaccinated was four months prior to the infection and death.

Local studies. Ya right!  International health organizations and dozens of countries saying this for months.  Try keeping up Thailand Gov't.  Sheesh!   And BTW how's the Ebola cure you discovered going?

Truly great research via "local studies!".

A blood test to see how your antibodies count is doing should be necessary before just willy nilly shooting up everybody. I wonder how much could be made on these antibody tests?

I had only one, so far. It happen to be full vial of moderna.

So the next coming in a minimum 6 months (unless some out brake).

The 3rd one unplanned, yet, but probably the next year.

Seems like the majority opinion here is that Thailand should not do any independent or local studies.

What a surprise.  Since these studies have been around for a while.

I think the point is: there is not much value in merely repeating overseas' studies (when the original research was properly conducted, peer-reviewed, etc) ... so how about they do something  novel and add to the world's knowledge, and maybe even discover something new and useful.

A somewhat new Israeli study also showed 3 shots of Pzifer reduced the risk of getting long covid, so it's also important which vaccines you get.

 

We're all interested in not ending up in hospital which all the vaccines are good at preventing, but if we can minimize the risk of getting long covid, that's a plus in the book too.

 

Thankfully omicron BA.2 are almost 100% dominant in Denmark so that lowers the risk even more, when we don't have to worry about Delta.

 

My girlfriend just got it last week after dodging the bullet 2 years and only had minor symptoms for a few days and is back at work again.

Positive Monday, a bit sore throat and running nose for 3 days.

Nothing else.

I didn't get it even if we spent all days together prior to her symptoms and positive test.

not exactly studies, as they claim. Just an observation.

Just 5 minutes glans on yesterday's mortality and gun-shot conclusion based on 26 cases:

certainly that is not a study. 

"studies" would involve setting a plan for study, conducting it over a long time (weeks/months), results peer revue and publication in a scientific medical journal.

Just getting the booster in Pattaya would be nice! Absolutely no news from BHP about prepaid Moderna!

BCCT also via BPH constantly reports 500 doses fully booked!

Is that a third booster or a third, booster...? Small thing, but 3 jabs versus 5 jabs...

Those numbers were just a single day's stats that the authors of the article included in their report. That was NOT what the OP report and its findings were based on.

 

If you read the actual article, you'll find the supporting detail:

 

"Based on local studies between July and December 2021, the health ministry said that two doses of a Covid vaccine can prevent transmission by 65 per cent and decrease hospitalisation or death by 88 per cent.

 

Three doses can prevent transmission by 94 per cent and decrease hospitalisation or death by 98 per cent."

 

Though it's worth noting, the time period that they're covering in that study (July to Dec. 2021) was mostly the Delta period for Thailand, so the later, comparable numbers for the current Omicron wave probably would be somewhat lower.

 

I've had 2 jabs of Moderna. After 6 weeks from the 2nd jab started to notice a lot of changes to how i felt. Months later i also got covid. Not interested in a 3rd, 4th, or 5th, jab but will probably be mandated at some point
