Turkey's general assembly, where President Tayyip Erdogan's ruling alliance holds a majority, voted 287-55 to approve the application that Sweden first made in 2022 to bolster its security in response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Go NATO, go freedom, go truth.

Not there yet, because Orban - the Putin stooge in the heart of Europe and wannabe dictator - is still opposed. He’s probably holding out for a couple of billion $$$ or €€€ in ‘aid’

Yes and he's already making bargaining noises after failing his promise not to be the last country to agree on Sweden in NATO.  He will probably need some jets or cash as you say.

Orban: Ratification of Sweden's accession to NATO 'soon'

Following Turkey's approval, Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban has pledged to press ahead with the long-delayed ratification of Sweden's NATO membership.

Orban said yesterday after a conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on the X platform (Twitter) that he would urge parliament to vote on it as soon as possible. Stoltenberg welcomed Orban's support.

He would be looking forward to ratification as soon as Parliament meets again, Orban wrote on X. He did not say when a vote on this might take place. Normally, the next session of the Hungarian Parliament would begin on February 27th.

Plenary vote pending
It remained unclear whether there could be an unscheduled special session beforehand to ratify Sweden's accession to the Western military alliance. Ratification has already been approved in parliament's specialist committees. The vote in the plenary session is still missing.

In Turkey, following the positive decision by the parliament in Ankara, all that remains is the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to complete the Turkish ratification of the accession protocol.

That said I heard today that at least the Turks have publicised their ratification in their guvment gazette now which apparently makes it official.

Orban only wins elections by changing rules at the last minute, if I remember correctly, last election he allowed foreign workers to vote and also give monetary incentives to some locals, the other guy, Fico, appears (can't confirm it) that he did the same that's why he won, keep in mind both of them love Putin as the old saying goes "birds of the feather flock together" and we could include Erdogan on that as it's well known his election was anything but fair and he also has a lot of interest dealing with Putin, out of the three I don't know who is the worse 555

He is an alcoholic malevolent Russian troll with virtually nil influence in the Kremlin now except to make Putin look smart in comparison. He was the placeholder who kept the seat warm while Putin was on the benches. He is a Mike Pence without the morals we can easily ignore anything that comes out of his fetid mouth.

Topic Update: 'Significant Russian Losses' As Kyiv Aims to Expand Dnipro Foothold

image.png

Ukraine’s military has said it is trying to expand its foothold on the Russian-occupied eastern bank of the Dnipro river, with Russian forces offering “fierce resistance” despite suffering “significant losses.”

For more than three months now, Ukrainian Marines have been deeply dug-in and – backed by masses of strike drones – have managed to hold ground first captured in mid-October.

Pushing Russian forces back from the river's shores has been a priority for Kyiv, which has been trying to protect the city of Kherson from Russian shelling.
