Thailand on Friday (February 25) reported 24,932 new COVID-19 cases, 15,774 recoveries and 41 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. 

 

▶︎ Infections outside prisons: 24,765. Prisons: 167

▶︎ Recoveries: 15,774

 

Friday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 2,819,282 with 22,809 deaths.

 

The news comes as the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has updated the public on the progress of Covid-19 vaccine developments in Thailand.

 

CCSA Spokesperson Taweesilp Visanuyothin has disclosed the progress of vaccines currently being developed in the country. The vaccines development revealed were the Chula-Cov19 vaccine and HXP-GPOVac.

 

The Chula-Cov19 vaccine is an mRNA vaccine, is being developed by Chulalongkorn University. The vaccine, according to the developers, can be produced swiftly, does not require a large facility for production, and is more adaptable for storage and administration. Its development is currently in its second-phase clinical test and is expected to be registered in 2022.

Would be nice to know how many are Omicron as opposed to Delta or other variants.

Pretty  sure it will have followed the behaviour as in other countries and omicron has likely displaced delta to the tune of over 80% by now.

Just got the report for 24th Feb with an expected rise from 239 cases on 23rd Feb.

 

Health officials on Thursday (Feb 24) reported 344 new COVID-19 cases in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, of which 62 cases were found in Hua Hin.

Elsewhere in the province, 38 cases were found in Pranburi, 7 cases in Sam Roi Yot, 51 cases in Kuiburi, 37 cases in Thap Sakae, 30 cases in Bang Saphan, 40 cases in Bang Saphan Noi, and 78 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.

No new COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the province today.

Anutin is a joke. But the daily death rate in the UK is 3x higher and the authorities have declared the pandemic over.

Thailand's official count of new COVID cases set a pandemic record  high for the second consecutive day, topping 24,000 (24,932) for the first time, and once again passing the prior high set during last fall's Delta wave (23,418).

 

Meanwhile, case tallies increased in every other major category as listed below, with new COVID deaths reaching a daily high for the year of 41 and COVID patients hospitalized in serious condition approaching the 1,000 mark.

 

Also, the MoPH reported positivity rate for RT-PCR COVID testing continued climbing upward, reaching a shockingly high 30% positive rate. The comparable rate at the beginning of this year was 7 percent.

For some added context, during the peak of the Delta wave last fall, Thailand's numbers of serious hospital cases and intubated patients topped 5,600 and 1,100 respectively. COVID deaths then had peaked at more than 300 per day for a brief time.

 

90% of the blame of the current wave of Covid, fall squarely on the tiny shoulders of the failed leader and his spectacularly incapable health minister.

 

So much could have and should have been done. They must be held responsible.

So sad..  A life cut short before it hardly had begun.

 

Omicron is a killer, and not always just of the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions.

100% is exactly what they reported for Omicron in Thailand earlier this month.

 

Those still claiming Delta's at work here are grasping at delusional straws, because the current situation forces them to recognize Omicron for what it -- generally less severe than Delta, but still perfectly capable of killing people and making them seriously ill.

There dont have much what can do about omicron! Its going to spread anyway, we have seen that all over world. Yes government has done sht work but whit omicron they cant do much. If dont want lock down all people inside they homes. Bs talks and false report about spread is really misleading. Even testing not show real situation anymore so it has meaningless now. Many country now only take pcr test from people who work whit senior's or in health care.

I personally find it very difficult to believe that Delta Infections which were running at 40 % of all reported cases in Thailand in mid January have fallen to less than 10 % over a period of just 4 weeks.

I kind of guess that its better on the Worlds Eyes to report Omicron rather than Delta to aid the Tourist Industry

It was also stated by the Authorities a Day or so ago, that over 100,000 Children had Covid now.

It was reported on the 19 Jan in the B.P. and Thaiger News that 90% of all cases were omicron
