as a minimum, but to include these Putin demands

  •     Recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea
  •     Demilitarization and denazification of Ukrainian state
  •     Ensuring neutral status of Ukraine, no NATO

The Putin side is the Nazi side. Ukraine will never agree to demilitarization.

Putin is likely to win this phase and install his puppets. He's showing now that he's willing to bomb the country to smithereens rather than lose. A crippled Ukraine serves his purposes as well.  But that doesn't mean it's over. Some analysts are suggesting a protected resistance struggle of 10 to 20 years with Russia ultimately losing.

Maybe Taiwan is now keeping an open eye on what could happen if....

Had this gone better for putin, China would already be attempting to take over Taiwan. Since the expected 2 day capitulation of Ukraine did not occur, china didn't invade as expected.

You all apparently believe that as soon as putin conquers Ukraine,  this will be over. Putin has stated that his goal is to reconstitute the USSR. As soon he's done with Ukraine, he will move onto the next one.

This is only the beginning. Unless foreign troops move in to support Ukraine, and especially the next country, this will go on a long time.

Moldova, good chance. Nato countries, not so much.

No one is, if the price (or pressure) is right.

What concerns me is the shells at the nuclear reactor¡ Very clever move, he can blame a rogue soldier or "accident"  and achieve the same result but then it's  not done as a premeditated lunatic action that using a Nuke would have.

Can't wait for the call "Vladimir Putin, come on down" ????.  And just think the American Senator Lindsey Graham is now getting lambasted for suggesting someone do just that.

Any Putin trolls on here? maybe one or two, please send this to the Kremlin now, a further rebuke for the midgets illegal actions.

Sainsbury's has become the first UK supermarket to change the name of its Chicken Kiev to Chicken Kyiv in support of Ukraine. In an announcement on Friday, the retailer said the new packaging will be rolled out across its stores in the coming weeks.

Soz but sometimes a little light relief in these dark times..............

I read that a Russian billionaire, living abroad offered 1 Million $ for Putin's head (dead or alive).

Soon, someone will start a GoFundMe page to raise money to pay a hitman.

So long as the hitman doesn't honk his horn or engage in any freedom minded "wrong-think". It would be a shame if gofundme misappropriated the funds raised and gave it to a charity of their own choosing.

I find it truly worrying that otherwise intelligent posters have a complete black/white view on this situation. Putin = 100% bad. The west/Ukraine = 100% good. Having swallowed their respective countries propaganda they lose the ability to consider that maybe this conflict is the fault of all parties. Both sides use propaganda.

Time people started thinking for themselves, and recognize finding a solution and making some sacrifices is a better idea than calling for assassinations of leaders and other blinkered actions that will inevitable end up in a nuclear war after each side paints themselves into a corner.

Zeit Geist: Hate Putin, Hate Russia, Hate Russians.

Are we going to clear out our EU-US library and bookshop shelves of "hateful" Russian authors like Tolstoy and Gogol and make big public bonfires, Nazi-style, to show our strong moral disapproval of all things Russian?

Already an Italian Uni has CXD a talk about Dostoyevsky (later re-instated after public outcry). An avowed pre-time pro-Putin guy, for sure.

Let's go check our local Tops, Central and 7/11  and make sure they hide from view everything Russian like Russian salad dressing and, horror of horrors Chicken Kiev

And nobody should play "Russian Roulette" ever again! Nah!

That all is pretty silly hyperbole.

Not to mention the climate change issue.

Threats of nuclear war trumps all.

Except in gambling dens located in the Kremlin, of course - where it is very much to be encouraged!

IMHO it is rather rich of the demented midget to refer to Western sanctions as being tantamount to warfare. I prefer to think of them as a perfectly reasonable "economic operation" in response to his "military operation".

Vlad has stated that he wants to reunite the lands that comprised the USSR.  I get the impression these countries are looking at Ukraine and wondering if they will be next.  I haven't heard this mentioned anywhere, but could it be possible there will be an attempt at unity of against Putin?  Kazakhstan has already turned down requests for support troops.

From the descriptions of Putin's military it sounds like they have been under-financed -- yeah, lots of tanks, artillery, shells etc but quality of the troops sure ain't no kind of spetsnaz.  Almost as if Milo Minderbinder is running the armed forces.

I don't understand why Putin didn't try this when Trump was president, considering how friendly they were.

As posted above, Trump had signaled that he would withdraw from NATO.  Without the US power in NATO, Europe would most likely not be able to formulate a strong, consistent, decisive plan either economically or militarily in support of Ukraine.  Trump also signaled he would withdraw from the South Korean alliance which probably settled Kim down.

It was clear when the money and military assistance was withheld from Ukraine that Trump was firmly NOT on the side of Ukraine.

So, two of the worst dictators around were given a pass and all they had to do was wait and they would pretty much have free rein to do whatever they wanted.  The despots would have no reason to doubt that he would withdraw from both NATO and the S.K agreement, he had already pulled out of the Paris Accord, The Transpacific Trade Agreement, the Iran Nuclear Deal, the UN Human Rights Council, etc., etc.   Whether you agree with withdrawing from any or all is secondary to how such decisive action signaled to both Putin and Kim that he would carry through with withdrawing and that would pave the road for whatever action they decided to take.   And don't forget, he wanted Russia included in the G-7.

A lot of hatred on this thread for Putin and all things Russian.

A lot of ignoramuses too.

Are you haters even aware of a place called Donbass in eastern Ukraine that, before Putin moved in, had been bombed relentlessly by the Ukrainian armed forces for the past eight years because the people there are Russian speaking and would like closer ties with Russia than with Ukraine? Be it, among other things, that the Russian language has been banned in Ukraine.

The hatred should be focused on the evil dictator Putin not the Russian people.

We are aware that Putin is the most dangerous man in the world literally threatening nuclear war.

Yes we are aware of Donbas.

We are aware that evil dictator Putin invaded Ukraine in 2014 and stole Crimea.

We are aware of a rebel movement in Donbas incited by evil dictator Putin and many Russian national operatives.

Yes there have been many casualties in this conflict on both sides.

Its normal for any country to fight separatist rebels, da?

But evil dictator Putin.is on record that in his perverted world view Ukraine doesn't even exist as a nation.

Now this war criminal villain is targetting civilians even schools and hospitals and literally leveling entire cities.

The Russian language is not illegal in Ukraine.

No decent person Russian or otherwise who isn't brainwashed with Kremlin propaganda lies can possibly support this horrific WAR of choice done by evil dictator Putin.
