Boosters

Featured Replies

Anyone have the latest info-graph showing time intervals for 4th shot depending   on what previous vaccines you have had.?

Some charts lately have fourth shot details: intervals and types.

If I see one I'll post it.

The more I read about the vaccines, the less I want a booster shot. Pfizer is 6 months per the vaccine centre.

Just had a booster (Moderna) and got a bad fever from it.

Not going near number 4. <deleted> that.

If you read the leaflets that come with vaccines it is not unusual for some people to get side effects.

A couple of years ago when I got the pneumonia vaccine with both shots I had flu like symptoms for a couple of days.

Friends have had mild side effects from AZ which I didn’t but both the wife and I had side effects for one day with the Moderna.

In all cases however I believe “catching the real thing” would be worse.

The symptoms of the real thing after having had  3 vaccinations are, apparently, not much worse than that of a common cold.

So whilst that remains the case and a 4th isn’t required to travel etc  I’m more than happy to stay put at 3rd base thanks ????

Had a Moderna 3rd vaccine recently, got less reaction than with AZ.

AZ sore arm for 4 days.!

Moderna sore arm for 2 days.!

Note: Was talking with a Doctor and mentioned I had the choice of Pfiser or Moderna for 3rd shot and I chose Moderna, his response was 'good choice, looks like it offers better protection than Pfiser'.

My comment was really directed at the fact that many vaccines have side effects and the benefit of having a vaccine over no vaccine

I have had my three and in no rush for the fourth.

I have read a few studies that suggest that catching a mild dose of Covid gives better protection than the booster.

Should have added “ If you have been vaccinated”

Yes, I read the same (from a reputable source) as to what your Dr told you about Moderna over Pfizer for the 3rd shot.

I also had 2 x AZ without any side effects whatsoever but boy, was I sick after the Moderna. Hence my reluctance for No 4 until if and when essential to enter places or planes.

If the OP has had no side effects after 3, then sure, go for it, get the 4th and maybe let us know which one he chose and what if any, side effects.

Today I had my booster shot of Moderna (after two shots of Pfizer) zero problems. I in a high risk group and will not hesitate to get a fourth shot of Moderna in the future...

When I went for the booster I had the choice of AZ or Pfizer, chose AZ again, my 4th.

Never had a problem with any of them.

Apparently, it depends on the brand or brands of the previous vaccinations you had. See here:

You obviously did not follow the context,  my wife already had 2 Pfizers, followed by a Pfizer booster after 4 months. She was told by the local centre she would have to wait 6 months.

As I said, it depends who you ask.

You are right. Reading the forum on my phone, I find it difficult to scroll through a topic to read all the posts made before the latest post I am reading. When a post has a link to an earlier post that gives the necessary context, I invariably click on such link.

How did she manage that?

I don't think you are on your own with that.

As I said in a previous post, only 6 above.

That is exactly what I had in way of side effects and what my doctor said as well.  My Moderna booster was a full dose and not a half dose as they are primarily giving out, but then as a Diabetic with an autoimmune disorder they had no issues giving me the full dose in the states when I flew back into the US for a 5 week visit.  Now to try and figure out how to have the US CDC card updated onto my Yellow Thai Covid Vaccination booklet and on the Mor Prom App.

I believe sandyf means this post:

"...chose AZ again..." appears to indicate that her previous vaccination was AZ (AstraZeneca)

I assume that "...my 4th..." means that prior to the booster mentioned in her post cited above, she had three AZ vaccinations.

P.S. This post was meant to be in reply to StayinThailand2much who asked:

No, I meant this one. Which was a response to someone saying it had to be 6 months for Pfizer.

"Depends which one you ask, my wife had it after 4 months at MBK walk in."

I have had 4 x AZ jabs, 3 in Thailand and 1 in the UK.

I had my Moderna booster in Chantaburi yesterday - they were quite inisistent that I had to wait 6 months after my 2 Pfizer jabs.

I see others were boosted recently - I specified a 50% dose as widely recommended for Moderna - a 50% dose increases antibodies by 37x apparently, (the 100% dose 84x). I also arranged for the jab to be 'aspirated' - there seems to be awareness of that in Thailand if NOT the UK, (Dr JC refers).

Nemeses - sorry to hear of your side effects. I received vax at 1pm and was fine until 10pm. But in the night my left arm, shoulder and neck were very uncomfortable indeed, but OK now.
