Bige bike license

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me whats involved to upgrade to bike bike? I'm not currently in Thailand.

Nothing...  a motorcycle licence is a motorcycle licence in Thailand.

Thats it... there is nothing size (cc) or HP related... just one licence for all motorcycles.

Do you have big bike license from home country?

If you do not have big bike license, it can be vise to get the license in your country, and learn to drive a big bike from experienced teachers. All the basics with the safety involved. Well worth the money. Anyway, it is up to you,, since here you still get a big bike license without any basics at all. Just a simple balance test almost and off you go on your own.

That could be an issue. :giggle:

From what I have read, you need a big bike license over a certain cc. I have a bike license for Thailand now. Has anyone upgraded theirs?

I have not heard of any reports of anyone getting such a license from the DLT though.

By law we are required to have a big bike license if riding a bike 400cc+. But the DLT isn't issuing those licenses, so never mind...

If somebody is feeling bored they could file a police report against the head of the DLT for failing to do his duties.

I have a 40+ year old lifetime "Jakayan Yon" (motor bicycle) license.  Would I be OK with a big bike if I add pedals to it?

Was at the DLT in Phuket recently and inquired about the big bike license. They just said it doesn't exist and it's the same as the regular bike license. So more than 2 years after the law passing nothing has happened. Doesn't seem like anything will happen any time soon either.

It should be all done and dusted in another 5 years since it's on the expedited track!

Perfect, gotta love thailand.

To get a big bike license in the UK now is a massive ball ache.
