Naew Na reported on an event at the Phatthalung provincial police station yesterday to celebrate a successful crackdown on street racers.

In the last month 5 bikes have been seized and 250 illegal exhausts were gathered.

Police in the area in Thailand's far south had been out trying to stop races mostly held on Friday to Sunday.

After the speeches were made about the perils of street racing on motorcycles and the excellence in general of the Royal Thai Police, a steamroller did the job of flattening those pesky and now silenced exhausts.

I'd rather see the bikes going under the 'steamroller' than their exhausts.

Not smashing it and no longer needed so not really evidence.  Another great headline.  ????

The BiB do look exhausted . As for steam rollers not seen one since about 1957.

????  They are busy fixing Hwy 1 up north.

A better idea would be to attach a hose to the exhausts and put it up the area of the bike owner where the sun does not shine.

As you say, exhausts still attached would have a better effect.

A great start.  Let's do the same to the bikes.

Logically reselling the bikes is more appropriate since it can recover the costs of the operation, and of course line certain pockets since individuals involved will get a percentage of the sale price. The exhausts can't be resold because they are illegal hnce they are publicly destroyed.

How did they get 250 exhausts from 5 bikes?

if you bother to read the article, they didn't.

Possibly purchased old exhausts from mechanical buisnesses just to make things look goodbye

Pity it wasn't guns getting crushed with the amount of gunfights and shooting lately ????

Yeah, but then we'd also lose a bunch of expats around the country.  The ones that claim their bike is safer because you can hear them coming from 3 miles away.

Those would be diesel powdered vibrating rollers not STEAM rollers 555

And for the next 5years, they will always show the same picture from a different angle to  show, how hard they work.
In fact, 500 Baht resolves the "exhausting" ploplem.

"Logically reselling the bikes is more appropriate..."

Logically?

The bikes couldn't be sold by the police, either, as that would be illegal because the bikes belong to the owners.

That would be bad?   Oh, yes, sorry, of course it would, it would be dreadful.

Road rollers are still commonly referred to as steamrollers, regardless of what propels them.
