This sounds like quite some vehicle - standard version boasts an 835 km range, does 0-100 kph in 3.2 seconds, charges from 10–80% in as little as 12 minutes and has prices (in China at least) starting at 1.15 million baht.

Your assumption Thailand will follow, is I believe, false.   Two completely separate markets with separate circumstances.   What kickstarted the EV revolution here was BYD & GW

I think the Sealion is the better car.

The specs on the Long Range and Performance models of the MG are definitely better than the Sealion.

But as a Sealion driver myself I would say that the Sealion is more suitable for Thailand's (current) charging infrastructure and therefore better value for money.

I live near Pattaya and even in this well developed area it's extremely rare to find charging stations that offer more than 120-180 kWh. In fact I've seen only one station that had 300kWh near Central Rayong.

Even newly installed chargers by EV Station or Spark peak at 180kWh.

That's why I think that cars like the IM6, Zeekr 7x, Xpeng G6 will be toothless tigers as long as there are hardly any hyper chargers with 300kWh or more.

Charging speed would probably be one of the least factors I'd consider, when buying a BEV.   Especially with the longer ranges available now.

We have the 2022 Dino MG ZS (76kW) and more than fast enough when we are O&A, though admit, we may waste more time at the charging station than most.  Car is usually done charging (90-95%) about the same time, or earlier than us.

Though don't know how many actually get O&A as much as us, and actually need CS, may average about once monthly, if that, since most work or have kids in school.   We use, on average, maybe 30X a year, 6 O&A, 5 top ups per, at a guess.

That MG 'Lifetime warranty' would be a deciding factor if buying in the future.  If we could get a decent price for the ZS, we'd swap it for the MG S5.

But with the 117 ZS available @ $499,900, I don't think anyone wants one 3+ yrs old w/52k kms on it.  Or even a new ZS, when for about 100k more, you get the upgraded model w/ lifetime warranty.

Sure, we also try to combine charge stops with lunch or extended coffee breaks but after 7,000km and some longer trips with my Sealion 7 I have to say that everything that takes longer than 25-30 minutes feels like waiting and is kind of annoying.

So if the charging infrastructure was better then I would definitely prefer one of these cars that support faster charging speeds.

We have a SL7 too and December off to ko chang for a couple of weeks. Will stay at Rayong the night before we catch the ferry...charge up.

Actually, it's the same price as back in Aug 2025.....see below 22 Aug 2025 autolife article.  It's probably been that price since Aug 2025 and it's just continuing at that price.   I think car companies just readvertise  previous promotions and that can make people think it's "another" price cut when in fact it's the same price as before.

The Autolife and Car250 have so many advertisements//promotions it can make it hard to figure out if "today's" promotion is really much different from a previous promotion.   It's kinda like a lot of Youtube videos nowdays where a video gets reloaded with a very recent date (maybe a slight title change and snapshot)  when in fact it's just a copy of the same video first uploaded much earlier....sometimes years earlier....but by reposting the video again it acts like click bait to get people to watch it thinking it might be a different/new video.

I'm looking at MG4 and it is self limiting to 140kWh so any new wizzo charger will be irrelevant.

We may have one for sale. I’m probably giving my Seal to her for her birthday and then sell her MG4 and youngest daughter’s Suzuki Ciaz and get her a new Dolphin or Jaecoo 5.

You snooze you lose....I'm standing in front of JBChangRai's home front gate right now.   But so far he isn't answering the intercom to let me in.   He's probably busy waxing one of his cars...I'm sure he'll let me in soon.  😀

Sorry guys, the footman had a day off and nobody knew how to open the gates.

I am the one who snoozed, we drove down to Chiang  Mai yesterday in the Seal.

We met my daughters in Dukes at Maya and they ran us back to Nakornping condo in the MG4, she kerbed one of the wheels in Maya car park, so that’s another job to do at Christmas.  Tyres Plus repair Alloy Wheels at 1,000 baht.

Great car, I always wanted the TF but settled for an Alpine. Would have been nice to have the V8 Alpine...think it was a V8.

I had a red Alpine with the big back fins and 5th gear overdrive. Soft-top and hard one., about 1958 model. Paid 400 quid for it in 68. So sad I have no photos.

Me too. When I bought mine the 5th gear overdrive used to go wirrrr wirrree  clunk clunk clunk, so I never used it. When I took the car to pieces, I opened up the overdrive gearbox and it had all these loose gears and bits of metal floating around, so when I tried to use overdrive all the bits would eventually jam together. That was all the noise.

They are 19” not the cars standard 18”.

The MG4 is under-tired and needs bigger wheels and tires, it has a habit of spinning the wheels.

I’m pretty new to BEV but we do have a hybrid. We were in Robinson in Sriracha yesterday and they had a DEEPAL S05 Max …looked good for the money but no idea if it is … anyone got one or test driven one. Battery is not very big 56kWHr I think, but does have V2L.

Unless you need electric away from the house, or very poor electric at the house, then I wouldn't be to concerned if any car has V2L.   I've used it once, and that was just a test, going on 3+ years owning.

Prices might be lower as these prices were for August 2025

useful site to compare size and battery size

as far as I know only MG and Aion listed below have lifetime battery warranty
