No need to be "too" close to a city.  But, also, not too far away, either. (10 Kliks is OK)

Bt.10,000 would be fine for such a place.

The place I mentioned is not too large, it is quite quiet and but for the people in the complex, maybe 3-4 all together, I would find it a small but pleasant sized home... and brand new... though further than 10 kliks - to CM - maybe 4 kms to Doi Saket..

Not sure that 10 kms from Thapae Gate will buy you much solitude.

“Oh, the terrible struggle that I have had against sleep so often of late; the pain of the sleeplessness, or the pain of the fear of sleep, and with such unknown horror as it has for me! How blessed are some people, whose lives have no fears, no dreads; to whom sleep is a blessing that comes nightly, and brings nothing but sweet dreams.”

On this topic, please post the location if you find somewhere.  I'm currently looking to relocate in Thailand and I definitely would not want to move anywhere within your reach! ????

Well, anyway, very constructively speaking, there has been mention of a farmhouse, or a workhouse.

And, in case you are looking for what I am looking for, then you might consider something such as these options.

I am sure that you and I will never meet.

Please let me put your mind at rest concerning this, at least.

Hope you find a nice place to stay in Thailand, for sure.

However, roosters are utterly intolerable.

And, almost everywhere I go, there are always roosters.

Don't know why.

Roosters procreate with hens, when they have outlived their usefulness they go into the cooking pot. They are one of the principal sources of protein in rural villages, chickens are good at feeding themselves.

I am wondering if I will go into the cooking pot too, when I reach my use-by date, figuratively speaking.

You can build a 36 sqm comfortable granny flat for about 400K - 500K here. I built one for 350K a few years ago.

Problem is, you'll have to marry a Thai to get the land to put it on.

Might be doable, provided that the person to be married is also celibate.

Most 60 yo Thai women would meet that criterion.

But then, living with a 60-year-old woman might be worse than living with a rooster.

solidly built structure, one single very large room, in the middle of a field, well removed from neighbors, yet close enough to the city

Exactly what you described.

- Solid built

- lots of single large rooms

- not a neighbor for miles

- close to the city

The Waterfront project, been abandoned for many years.

your post simply get sillier & sillier.  do you or have you ever been to thailand.

220 sqm single room = small or large warehouse / workshop.   try googling that.  If not thai, means you won't be able to own, simply rent.  since it would be geared toward business, profit making endeavor, then expensive just for that reason.

Have you ever been to New York City?

Do you realize that people live in warehouses in NYC, and pay premium prices for the pleasure?

This is a serious post.

Note to You:  Yes, I have been to Thailand.

Yes, been a few time, didn't care for it, at all.  I know about warehouse living in 'cities', but not the same as Thailand.  Many of the NYC warehouse are in themselves, used as townhouses, simply 'small' open area warehouses before furnished.

I actually like the idea, and my houses consisted of mostly open areas, while living in Thailand vs their usual multi small walled small rooms design, which I hate.  Living, kitchen and dining area not walled in, past and present house in Thailand, 100+ sqm, of main living area.

You want 220 sqm stand alone in middle of nowhere, no neighbors, so nothing compared to NYC warehouse converted to townhouse living.   Apples & oranges.  Many of the warehouse/townhouse units in USA cities are simply businesses that failed, and now converted to open area townhouses.

What you are asking for is completely different.

I recently saw this pre-fabricated house design that looked interesting and I imagine possibly the type of thing you're looking for.  Apparently built for 200,000 baht.   Obviously you'd need to rent/lease a piece of land and install services (power/water/drainage etc).   Unfortunately I don't have first hand knowledge of the builder, but I can pass the FB poster's details where I got this from.

Thank you.

As you will note, the grout on the bathroom tiles should not be black.

In my opinion the best indication of substandard workmanship is the color of grout on tiles.

Still, thank you very much.

Please note:  Black grout on tiles is just as spooky as fluorescent lighting around the house.  Things like this you will never see in the Louvre in France, or the replication of the Louvre in China.

Disgusting grout between tiles is always a sign one is in China, baby....

SPOOKY!

If I could own land in Thailand with my name in the chanote, I would have built a traditional wooden house up in the forrest elevated with a view at Koh Phangan.

Alot of old wood from old houses for sale now, and still good for another 100’s of years

black grout, very art deco, w/black & white tile.   makes sense, and might as well make black to start with, as will turn black in the future anyway ????

good luck finding 220 sqm knock down warehouse.  Do you even live in Thailand ?  Just curious.

Interesting, for sure.

Also, in truth, this is something that I was not aware of.

(Although, I have been aware of the fact that most people are afraid of ghosts, even though they might not admit it to a farang.)

My Thai GF is afraid of ghosts. She will not go outside after dark unless I am with her. I think her reasoning is because I don't believe in ghosts, they will stay away when I am around.
