Boris Johnson - Fresh calls to resign after piss-ups in Downing Street - Partygate

London (CNN) Britain's beleaguered Prime Minister Boris Johnson is facing accusations he misled lawmakers and is staring down fresh calls to resign, after new images were published appearing to show him raising a glass with colleagues at a social gathering inside Downing Street during lockdown. 
 

The photos, obtained by ITV News, appear to show Johnson offering a toast during a colleague's leaving party in November 2020; several bottles of alcohol litter the table in front of him. In some of the photographs, Johnson seems to be giving a speech, the ITV News report says. 

 

At the time, indoor social mixing was banned due to a spike in Covid-19 cases, and no more than two people were allowed to meet outside.

Yes, every other British citizen strictly adhered to the lock down rules, no riots, raves , street demonstrations or pulling down statues or anything , everyone  diligently stayed at home and adhered to the lock down rules

I just can't understand why he is not forced to resign. Every single pro lockdown politician that contributed to the Covid lockdowns, which tore society apart, and broke their own rules must resign. Very simple. Johnson, Starmer, Rayner, Sturgeon, all of them. Not just in the UK. Across the pond Pelosi famously visited a hair salon against her own rules, and even had a party where she was mask less. Cortez too, prancing around maskless in Florida. 

 When these politicians break their own rules it totally undermines trust in government, the pandemic rules and their own parties credibility. It makes people question whether the pandemic was as serious as we were told. If they were held to account for their own actions I wonder if we would not have had lockdowns in the first place?

Exactly. They had all the data and decided the rules didn't need to be followed (when they thought the cameras were off). It does indeed make you wonder if the pandemic was as serious as we were told and whether lockdowns actually did more harm than good.

Anyone who thinks politicians were all fine, upstanding pillars of society (some are) before Covid came along is a bit delusional, IMO. 

Boris Johnson has been a compulsive liar for decades and it was no secret. The electorate has got what it voted for. He is shameless; otherwise he would have resigned months ago.

I didn't differentiate between left and right in my post so not sure why you quoted it.

Both are as bad as each other, Blair lying about WMDs as a pretext for joining the invasion of Iraq, for example.

My mother was isolated for nearly 2 years - we had to wave at her from the garden outside.... her funeral is tomorrow.

Meanwhile Boris and Co were swigging Champaign and laughing about lockdown breaches.....hundreds were having  parties at number 10 and government offices

Boris behavior should not be a surprise for anybody. He always behaved like that. He was fired several times for lying. He was an incompetent politician before he was elected to be PM.

Why do people vote for a liar like him?

Part of it is obviously the crazy UK press. But anybody with a brain does not listen to that crazy press.

In a country with informed and educated people Boris wouldn't have a chance to get any important job.

Shameless and with no moral backbone whatsoever.  A complete charleton but what really grates is the way all his gutless chums continue to make excuses and lie for him.  Unfortunately too big a majority in the house, something that was always going to leave him free to do whatever he wants to and no comeback!
