Updated Thailand Entry Measures Starting Next Month

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently provided details on updated measures for entering Thailand, which will come into effect from June 1. They are as follows:

 

1. All quarantine measures for inbound travelers will be lifted.

 

2. Thailand Pass system changes:

 

2.1 Thai nationals who enter Thailand by air and by land will no longer need to register for the Thailand Pass.

2.2 Foreigners will still need to register on the Thailand Pass system through a more facilitated process.

 

- Fully vaccinated travelers will need to provide (1) a COVID-19 vaccination certificate, (2) a minimum of US$10,000 in travel insurance covering COVID-19 medical expenses, and (3) a copy of a valid passport.

 

- Unvaccinated or not-fully vaccinated travelers must provide (1) COVID-19 test results (RT-PCR or professional ATK) issued within 72 hours prior to travel, (2) a minimum of US$10,000 in travel insurance covering COVID-19 medical expenses, and (3) a copy of a valid passport.

- After registering for the Thailand Pass, a QR code will be immediately auto-generated for convenience. If travelers cannot provide appropriate COVID-19 test results, they will need to take a professional ATK test at the checkpoint.

 

- Please note that before the updated measures take effect on June 1, 2022, Thais and foreign visitors are still required to register for the Thailand Pass and receive approval to enter Thailand.

 

3. The Ministry of Interior confirms that all land border checkpoints will be reopened for border-crossings starting June 1.

 

- Foreign travelers must register through the Thailand Pass system.

 

- Thai nationals and people traveling with a border pass do not need to register for the Thailand Pass.

The subject here is entry into Thailand. 

I suspect they will be required in the airport, as the rule at the moment is still that they be worn in public places. They will also be scanning for monkey pox.

While most countries only require you to have a valid passport to enter now that Covid is basically a mild flu, keeping measures like this in place only prolongs the pain and suffering for those that are and have been lacking the tourism buck which helps them survive IMO.

Nobody seeing it  come, these fools have lost tourism for this year, its far too late now to rescue 2022. Drop it all you may get 4 million up, leave it in place, lucky to get 2.5-3 million. From what I see, the airlines are acting as a deterrent with higher prices.

How about those who have been resident and go on holiday does the insurance apply to them and probably a silly question but we get penalised as against our Thai families!!!

For someone who hasn't bought travel insurance for some time, approximately  how much would a $10k (covid) policy for a months stay cost?

My goodness, no demands for an expensive  test on arrival to prove that you're free of monkeypox, or insurance to cover $50K in medical expenses if you contract monkeypox while in Thailand, they're missing the boat here, lol!

As with anything, you have to get in early, suffice to say I got a great deal for an overseas trip come October, and with Thai Airlines believe it or not which was cheaper than the budget airline I usually travel with.

 

Fuel prices go up, air travel goes up, it's all about timing and how far in advance your prepared to book.

Thailand pass was easy to do, but there were delays and uncertainty in issuing them.

Now it would be instant and can be done just before departure. 

Down from an original $100k to $10k and now from 650b/month or from 4200b per year, it's not a financial issue at all.

Thai citizens never had obligation to get insurance, as they have free medical. Still they need to show vax certificate or do test on the border.

Those conditions are already since 1st May, now thailand pass will be shorter and instant

Still confused if you are on a 1 year valid   re entry retirement visa and you come back into the kingdom with after a short visit to your old country are you classed as visitor if you live here?. You are over 75 and cannot get the insurance . or you have business and travel back and forth do you still need a Thailand pass with all the relevant conditions?  Surely the Thailand pass applies to tourist (visitors) or anyone who arrives ?

I recently did just that, and the TP wouldn't go to the next page until I provided insurance, so I just bought the cheapest one and entered the policy number and a screenshot. I never did get the email promised to me by the insurance company. It was the 650B policy on the TP page.

From what i am told from the brokers about 3000 thb but have no idea if  it relates to age

covid only insurance are for up to 99 years. Single entry insurance from 650b, or from 4200b yearly multiple entry.

Every foreigner has to get thailand pass, no matter of visa status

First category they should drop the pass for after Thai, is those with visa of 6-12 months already, or those that have only left for a couple of weeks and returning. Thais are no safer than any other person on the planet returning

Ok that's great I am over 80 and can easily get a years insurance for 4200 b a year thanks can you give me company so I can get it
