Russian missile strikes hit Kyiv as Putin warns West against arming Ukraine

Kyiv, Ukraine — Russia took aim at Western military supplies for Ukraine with airstrikes in Kyiv on Sunday that it said destroyed tanks donated from abroad, as President Vladimir Putin warned that any Western deliveries of long-range rocket systems to Ukraine would prompt Moscow to hit "objects that we haven't yet struck."

The cryptic threat of a military escalation from the Russian leader didn't specify what the new targets might be, but it comes days after the United States announced plans to deliver $700 million of security assistance for Ukraine that includes four precision-guided, medium-range rocket systems, helicopters, Javelin anti-tank weapon systems, radars, tactical vehicles, spare parts and more.

Military analysts say Russia is hoping to overrun the embattled eastern Donbas region, where Russia-backed separatists have fought the Ukrainian government for years, before any weapons that might turn the tide arrive. The Pentagon said earlier this week it will take at least three weeks to get the precision U.S. weapons and trained troops onto the battlefield.

Diplomacy and Putin don’t seem to work out well. His way or you pay hell. Not a fan of war but talking to him must be like speaking to a general we know. In one ear out the other unless it gives him more power. ????

The title of this news could equally be:

”Putin tells the West what he fears most”.

Little does he know that all the nukes in the world are aimed at his residence. If he doesn't have brain cancer this may scare him a little.

He's starting to sound a bit like the boy who cried wolf with all his threats to the west.

He barely seems to have the military capacity to achieve his current, already well watered-down, objectives. Let alone manage a confrontation with "the west".

As the weapons have not been delivered yet, it is impossible for them to have been "struck" already.

War ends immediately when Russia withdraws from the sovereign country it chose to invade? All these western arms are being sold rather than the majority being donated? Did you learn nothing from Chamberlain and Czechoslovakia?

Ukraine war: UK to send Ukraine M270 multiple-launch rocket systems

The UK is sending its first long-range missiles to Ukraine, the defence secretary has said, despite a threat from Russia to the West.

Ben Wallace said the M270 multiple-launch rocket system will help Ukraine defend itself against Russia.

Ukraine should lob a few missiles Vlad’s way, or at least over the border to where the Russians and Chechens hide out.

The weaponry is being given free to the Ukraine by way of the donor foreign governments who are buying from suppliers . I also heard today that not only a withdrawal from the Ukraine but also to vacate Crimea .

Long RTX and ULE, thanks.

Perhaps there’s a missile colonoscopy in Vladimir’s near future?

Personally I favored Ukraine giving Russia a long term lease for its naval base in Crimea in return for an equally long term contract to supple Ukraine with Russian fuel. A peaceful win for both countries rather than an indefensible agree Sion of Russia invading and seizing sovereign country territory.

Judging the history of the USA, it has been a safe bet since the country’s founding.

Didn't Russia already have a long term lease in Crimea for its Naval base before Russia invaded Crimea? Now it doesn't pay for use of the base.

He tried to negotiate peacefully for many years, the final attempt was made in December 2021 but the West ignored Russia’s interests as always dismissing them as insignificant. Now it’s going to be the hard way. The West is going to learn to lose.

Putin spent years trying to coerce Ukraine into accepting Russian occupation of Ukraine's territory.  Is that the negotiation you are referring to?

No there was no such lease from what I am reading. The Crimea is/was part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine and was recognized as such by the international community, including Russia.
