Regulation signed to make cannabis flowers a controlled herb in Thailand

Cannabis flowers, which contain a higher level of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) than other parts of the plant, have been classified as a controlled herb, under a new ministerial regulation already signed by Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, which will become effective after its publication in the Royal Gazette.

 

The minister claimed yesterday (Wednesday) that placing cannabis flowers under control will help ease concerns over their recreational abuse.

 

Anutin said the new regulation clearly specifies that people who can access the controlled herb must be over 20 years old and that pregnant and breast-feeding women are barred from access.

So how would you identify whether a female customer was pregnant or not if she is in the early stages of pregnancy ? or how could you identify a lady was breastfeeding ?  although requesting to massage her breasts to determine one way or the other may provoke some discussion and titillation on the premises ????

Once this new Ministerial Regulation is published in the Royal Gazette, I'd like to get a link to it if someone cn find it.

Now that we can all grow cannabis for our own use, will the government allow us to make our own beer and wine?

 

And - Will cannabis be restricted in the same way as alcohol, i.e.- can not be sold from 2.00pm to 5.00pm and 12.00pm to 11.00am and never on a Buddha Day or election day?

That didn't take long, so if passed, back to being 'in the closet' illegal again, instead of like prostitution, tolerated.  As soon as they find a way to profit, like prostitution, then public sales will be 'tolerated' again.

Minister Signed Notice to Control Cannabis Use

 

 

BANGKOK, June 16 (TNA) – Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said he signed a notice of the Ministry of Public Health to regulate cannabis use and allay all concerns about cannabis decriminalization.

 

In a meeting on the proper and safe use of cannabis with officials concerned, Mr Anutin who is also a deputy prime minister said he already signed the notice on cannabis use control as proposed by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine.

 

The notice addressed all concerns about cannabis abuse.

I'd like to see a translation of the original new regulations, not just this new 'clarification' - there's been nothing but confusing and contradictory reports from the start. For example, when de-regulation was first announced the entire proposals were based on medical use - now the word 'recreational' is being openly used.

 

Then there's the confusion over the stated strength of 0.2% THC content. So what do the regulations, as published, actually say. In my book, by placing an age threshold on the drug and stating that it should not be used by pregnant women, Anutin is throwing the 0.2% in the bin.  Such a low content wouldn't even be noticed by the user and would be of no harm whatsoever so there'd be no point in controlling anything.

 

Has anyone seen a translation of the new laws - as published in the Royal Gazette?

I have not read that but based on your comment, how on earth will they be able to keep tabs of patients who have been prescribed cannabis and after 30 days ensure that they no longer have it in their possession ? It is  either a misreading of the article or else yet another stupid and completely unenforceable regulation by those with chicken brains who are running the show.

Then re-register for another 30 days. Repeat- repeat... Worse than the 90 day report for farang.  If farang even qualify to register on the app.  I am glad I am on marriage extensions.  I will talk to my wife today.  She has medical conditions as well.

It's certainly very impressive that the notice addressed "all" concerns about the demon weed, but I'm still not understanding how the Department of Witchcraft and Jungle Medicine can impose restrictions on its own volition, without any apparent debate or approval by the government or legislature.

 

I'm also wondering how they can "bar" pregnant and lactating adult women from accessing an otherwise legal substance - something which they don't even do for the far more dangerous alcohol and nicotine.

With all the negative posts you have made about a plant that has had more money spent on it than any other plant ever to find something wrong with it but can't I'd  suggest you fall on your Christian upbringing sword and admit that Genesis 1:29 is valid in a country which the term "up to you" means just that

Far from it as I understand the article. Posters on this forum have little time or respect for Anutin Charnvirakul, however this seems like clever and political savvy move to protect his legislation. Is acceptable to the law's detractors, is yet to be seen.
