Renewing a 2-year Thai Driving License on a visa on arrival in Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

Does any kind soul know if foreigners can renew a Thai Driving License without a work permit or non-immigrant visa here?

I'm here on a visa on arrival that will expire next Tuesday the 21/06/2022.

I'd be very grateful if you could guide me on where to go, what documents to prepare and timings in BKK to make it all happen if it's at all possible.

Thank you for your kind support,

Ama

Yes you can. As you're not on a non-immigrant visa you'll only get another 2 years, not 5 years.

I can't help with where to do it in Bangkok, sorry.

Why you want to renew? If you're on a visa-on-arrival, you are in Thailand for 15-days only without any possibility of further extension. You can use your home country's license.

Just maybe the OP plans to come back again in the future for a longer stay and doesn't want to have to go through the whole process of getting a license from scratch?

Also, the OP has said nothing about having a license in his home country, so you can't assume he does.

I suspect the OP may not actually be on a VOA but on a 30 day visa exemption stamp which many wrongly call VOA.
