Are jeans and chinos adapted to Thailand ?

I wear denim jeans and chinos every day, quite cool, no problems with my nuts thank-you very much.  Shorts are for the beach or inside my home.  Any educated British person should not be wearing shorts in public other than on the beach... ????

Jeans & t-shirt daily for me as well, cool enough, no problems either. One of the advantages, now that you mention it, is that they do help differentiate me from the uneducated Brits and the stupid tourists. The better class of Asian men also tend to wear long pants if not at the beach. So I may expect a somewhat better reception from the tourist-shocked Thais in Pattaya and be less of a target for fleecing.

And I usually ride a bike wherever I go, and I feel a bit safer in jeans. It ain't Kevlar but in the worst case I'd still prefer to have denim between me and the asphalt.

I only wear shorts during my walks on the beach.

I find shorts and t-shirt to be too hot most of the time.  Even wearing shoes is often too much.  Jeans would be torture in this climate.   I wish it could be done, as foreigners often look

Anything 'microfiber' = quick dry stuff is good for this climate.

If you're moving it's fine. Otherwise I find light cotton cooler. The quick drying is sometimes convenient, esp for travel.

Clothes are a sign of intelligence ... ????

"Better dressed' can definitely afford to pay more ... just a thought.

Maybe the question pertains to the 'rise'.  The length from the crotch to the waist. It's usually too short for falang wear. Like a cheap hotel - no ballroom.

You can buy higher rise jeans. Aliexpress has them:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32841945448.html

I have a couple pair of those and like them. Good quality, mid-weight, fit well.

It appears the Thai Mc brand has some higher rise jeans:

And of course you can order from the USA and have them sent over.

I have a pair of these Wranglers and they're my fave:

Heavy mid-weight. Fantastic and indestructible.

So, not a problem.

You've confused intelligence with education. We're all highly intelligent around here.

Apart from one brief trip to the UK 3 years ago, I have worn nothing but shorts for 8 years.  I have no idea what condition my longer trousers are as I haven't opened the closest in years. One of the great pleasures' of living here is the freedom to feel free in tropical clothing. Jeans look ridiculous here on anyone over 23.  Chinos less so, but only in Bangkok.

In the absolute peak of the hot season I sometimes omit to wear the waistcoat with my gentleman's suiting. At night I may replace it with a light silk cummerbund, (never ever worn before dusk!)

Living in the tropics one is at constant risk of dropping one's standards, don't you think?

Nice work on the affiliates

Jeans when I'm cruising the mall or going out for dinner. Chinos? Don't think so, that's a bit too much lol.

I find shirts too hot, i only wear for golf, cycling, immigration, agogos, some bars, some restaurants.

Singlets are the best for Thailand if outdoors, i wear these most of the time, in my condo it's just my boxers

I'm just worrying about my balls under tropical stress, that's all.

All that heat could lead to fungi quatro fromaggio or even sterilization ! ????

Seems to me that you need to let it out in the open much more. Let the poor guy fly, man.

There are light fabric jeans and comfy stretch chinos out there, Wrangler do both, I have them.

In Chiang Mai, the evenings are often mild enough to wear trousers and socks and I have always worn them after sunset in Bangkok too, but not in beach areas as a rule.

Benefits are, mosquito protection, and even if you rent your company, this is Thailand, and you're judged by looks, and looks effect rapport, which effects ones overall quality of the experience.

If you don't subscribe to that philosophy, you'll never know anyway, so to each their own.

I don't care if others wear wife-beaters or girly 3/4 pants either, I'm too busy eying up their evening rental to care about their <deleted> taste in kit!
