it becomes tiresome after a while .... stray dogs on beaches, in soi's ,  at 7/11 shop fronts etc ... etc ...

biting kids, in some cases attacking and maiming children who require stitches ....

but yet this silly country does not see that as wrong ...  what kind of mentality are these people to allow this to keep going on year after year ......

Tourists are a replaceable commodity.

Efforts to spay and sterilize the dogs have been hindered by dog lovers who criticize the authorities for their actions.

OK, then send them to their new home in Vietnam restaura.... erm, dog shelter.

When you know how to handle them, it's easy

You are absolutely right, I don't know what the tourists are thinking going to a beach in Thailand without first taking a course on how to handle packs of stray dogs. Three or four lessons, maybe with you as a teacher, and then they are good to hit the sand. It's easy.

Jeez.

Until the dogs eat a few Rich Tourist nothing will be done!

Would get more attention if the dogs ate a few generals. See how quick authorities would take action then.

Maybe you could consider moving to a less 'silly country' as you describe Thailand. Personally I do not regard Thailand to be a 'silly country' and, by the way,  in my case, and in my family's case, I have never had any problems with stray dogs here.

and that's good you've never had any problem with soi dogs,  try telling that to the little girl attacked recently, or the little boy who was savaged several months back.

So you've never been around soi's with dogs,  you've never been to an outside restaurant,  you've never been on the beach,   you need to get out more.

News Flash .... TIT ... Buddhist don't kill living things for no reason.  Many westerners would agree, killing something isn't always the humane way of things.

Could the situation be handled better, probably.

Some uncommon common sense:

... Educate yourself on dog behavior; aggressive vs excited

... if dogs around, not a good time to open the picnic basket, or show food

... if too excited for your comfort, share food, and back out of area

... NEVER run from or turn back on any dog

... if you think you can't get to a safe area away from dog / surf, go in the surf

... choose your location wisely, first come, first served or

have a stick handy. No need to use, they see, they know

... where I'm at, I welcome the soi dogs, as they keep the

very aggressive monkeys at bay ????

Happy Chillin'

Killing Soi dogs Is for a reason, They are Flea bitten,Mages infested ,full of worm and some Rabies on top of that. They chaise and bite people.

No one seems to own the pests .They suffer and are hungry .

It is heaven for the Soi dogs to be killed Than they Do't suffer and people can walk ,ride ,drive safely without any trouble except from their Fellow Road users.

Soi dogs where I am, most of, are well fed, looked after, and have even had their rabies shots.

Your experiences may differ.  I've never had an issue with any soi dog.

People, that's a different story.

Check that, 1 incident, while walking our dog (so not applicable to most), a 'pack' of 3 ????

came charging toward us from some distance.  Couldn't judge their intentions, so the

lead Alpha ended up with a massive headache (via walking stick), as they retreated to safer turf.

Actually broke the stick in 2, and it wasn't a thin stick.  Have seen the same dog afterwards, and showing no interest in us.
