Doctor Warns Another Big Covid Wave Is Looming

A PULMONARY disease expert warned in a Facebook post yesterday (July 14) that Omicron subvariant BA.5 is now spreading widely in the country with the increase in the number of pneumonia patients indicating that another big wave is looming, Amarin TV said.

 

Dr. Manoon Leechawengwongs, who is based at Vichaiyut Hospital, said in his previous post shared mid-June he mentioned that doctors personally taking care of patients had seen signs of a new Covid wave emerging in Bangkok. However at that point he thought it would be a small one which would end quickly to go by the example of South Africa, the first country where Omicron mutants BA.1, BA.2, BA.4 and BA.5 spread.

 

Yet after almost a month he has now changed his opinion and thinks the current outbreak will be as big as the one in March when Omicron subvariants BA.1 and BA.2 spread heavily in the country.

I just got rid of COVID in US. Don't know if it was BA.4 or 5 but those are the dominant variants here. I hadn't been boosted and my original shots were over a year ago. My symptoms were similar to a very mild cold. It took 10 days to get a clean test after 1st testing positive

Not looming, already here, but many prefer to ignore it, in Australia there are hundreds dying every week with 4,500 hospitalised so much so that hospitals are cancelling elective surgeries while many still, refusing to get vaccinated and most don't wear masks at all...

If the whole world hasn't 'fixed' Covid yet, it never will. Governments tried lockdowns and promised her immunity through vaccines. And look where we are now!

There is nothing more or new that they can do, and most of us have had Covid already.

I  fear you may be correct but really am hoping it becomes another endemic, flu like infection. We aren't there yet.

I cannot but agree with ezzra.

 

It is not so much COVID-19 which I fear - vaccinated thrice with Pfizer (next booster in 2 months), and I wear 2 masks when I go out - but, I worry about long COVID.  Two friends (one each in Australa and the USA) and 3 of my former students (young healthy people on their 30s and 40s) have had long COVID, and 4 still have symptoms and cannot function as they did pre COVID-19 infection (6-18 months post infection).

 

So, if you decide to ignore what you take to be "fake evidence", up to you; on the other hand, if you question the "evidence" and accept it is being essentially valid and take precautions, then wise you.

So, will you continue to be boosted every few months and wear two masks for the rest of your life? Because this virus isn't going to just give up and walk away, and there doesn't appear much more society can do other than vaccinate and change everyone's behaviour.

Diseases (and the actions of humans) kill millions every year. I'm not sure what makes this one so special, other than it arriving in the era of social media, influenced mass media and greed from global corporations.

Right now those who analyse the excess mortality figures, over the last 3 years come to the conclusion that Covid isn't less lethal than the Spanish flu, of 1919. And would have been a lot worse without the vaccines.

Do you think that in 1919 people counted someone who died of a heart attack but also tested positive for the flu, while showing no symptoms, as having died from said flu?

It would be interesting to see what effect it would have if the press simply stopped reporting on covid.

So another "expert"  looking for his 15 minutes of facebook "fame" flaps his wings and the usual TVF panic mongers  come out in sympathy,  they really are milking this for all its worth. 

In the UK for example, 40%  of government employees are still "working from home" apparently due to fear of covid meanwhile the rest of society carries on 

I think I'd rather be an "ignorant" burying my head in the sand than a scaremonger who feels the need to echo every doom and gloom prediction. why do they do that, ? Is its a way of trying to justify their own fear ? 

"Wreaking havoc and death all over the world" can get much more melodramatic than that, didn't you post a similar comment about cannabis?
