The audience who were questioning truss are the ones involved in choosing the next leader-they are the ones involved in this aspect of the political system and they voted sunak on the night.

Let’s hope truss pulls out of any future debates and the tories get those ballots out sharpish.

You should be realistic .

You want Truss to win and YOU do not speak on behalf of the opposition

You really need to change the "the Opposition" to *my*

That’s true, because unlike truss he can explain his policies.

I listen to the tories because they are the party in govt and what they say affects the country.

I think sunak would be a better choice for the tories because he could conceivably win the next election.

truss not so much...that's why I hope she wins.

She is the only one capable of overturning a 70+ majority...

I gave you an option, I didn't say it was an easy one, up to you, however just imagine if you had stayed in the EU the 10 H drive would have become slightly over an hour drive  555

How would staying in the E.U have made UK fuel cheaper ?

Thankfully truss, but many more terrible performances like last nights and it could get closer.

#votetrussnow- before it all goes wrong

I doubt that very much.

Truss could claim that the Earth was flat and she would probably still win, so long as she promised tax cuts and some EU bashing.

Perhaps not in the eyes who are backing her, I mean, those who are backing her know about her past and present jobs and how she faired, which has nothing to do with a television side show that The Sun readers and Coronation Street watchers love....????

A comment worthy of an insular Islington elitist.

Very disparaging towards your fellow Tories in the 'Red Wall' constituencies, don't you think?

Folk inside and outside of politics have an opinion about who their next PM will be.

You are wrong. Truss is being criticized for her policies, not her appearance.

Move on, we left, that's all history now and irrelevant to the present

But from your link n

"However, a growing number of economists are expecting the euro zone to slide into a recession next year, with Nomura, for example, forecasting an annual contraction of 1.2% and Berenberg pointing to a 1% slowdown.

Even the European Commission, the executive arm of the EU, has admitted that a recession could be on the cards — and as early as this year if Russia completely cuts off the region’s gas supplies."

Major boost for truss as sunak makes a massive howler and puts his foot in it…

However truss’ threats to the Bank of England’s independence could yet trip her up. Let’s hope no asks any awkward questions at this evenings hustings in Eastbourne- or any other time…

Just watched the hustings and regarding answering questions or having the facts at hand, sunak is streets ahead of truss. Not that what he says is any better than truss, but he comes across as being more aware and on top of things, quite worrying really.

truss really is a wooden, stilted, terrible public speaker, and just seems unconvincing. The opposition must be praying she wins and hoping truss' lead amongst the tory base carries her to victory.

Seems some people had more interesting things to say than Liz Truss did. Her response is to clamp down on protesters i.e. stop people from voicing their opinions.
