Phuket – An entertainment venue fire evacuation drill will be held at Illuzion night club on Bangla Road in Patong.

 

A meeting was held this week at the Patong Municipality led by the Patong Mayor Chalermsak Maneesri and the Kathu District Chief Siwat Rawangkun.

 

Patong Mayor Chalermsak told the Phuket Express, “The fire drill is aimed to ensure fire safety and to be ready if any fire incident happens in entertainment venues or on Bangla Road.

Good for an overall view, however, each individual entertainment venue needs to have it's own tailor made evacuation strategy & procedures with staff adequately trained in how to control customers and the direct people to the closest safest emergency exit (providing it's not locked) with additional staff trained in the basic use of various fire extinguishers depending on type of fire to enable safe pathways out of the building but not to fight the fire unless it is a very small one.

So the illuzion night club is just the start of every bar/club/venue or the first and last in another window dressing routine.

How about issuing each customer with a key for each fire exit (against a deposit of course)  and a waist belt with a holster containing an axe. Customers should not be admitted unless they are equipped with an air breathing set too.
