Wow, you've adapted.

What is it, sad or confused or both?

I followed the moderator advice - see above.

One wonders what drove the forum to abandoned the other 2 emoticons, other than a perceived misuse of the sad or laughing ones.....the Emojis from the top are still available but then if one were to j

How sad (no emoji) that Asean has gone 'woke' or whatever they call it.

Pathetic but unfortunately the world is going this way.  You can no longer take an opposing position, sad that the forum has taken this path.

Yes you can.

Heard of posting?

Confused emoji

How can posters promote the idea this helps, its very presence is confusing, the ability to guess the correct meaning from a varied list of possibilities would require some quite impressive skills

oh yes thank you....however i don't think its ideal / optimum for forum space to have to make a quoted reply every time you want to use the confused emoji.

I can understand what the Mods have done. There are an awful lot of wind-up merchants, and just plain nasty posters in this forum.

Someone posted that they didn't appreciate people replying with just a "sad" emojis and you thought to yourself

*I will reply with a sad emoji*

Are you just trying to annoy people ?

That is why the emojis got removed , to stop people using them just to annoy others

This is the strangest comment I've read on this article.

It's nothing to do with woke........ name calling is for the school yard. They've been removed because some members were abusing the system

Childish behavior from a few members here, some have never grown up and now the good members who were using the sad and confused reactions in a professional manner will suffer.

This is the sad world we live in, the miserable, pitiful, nasty few spoiling it for the rest.

BTW, your opinion can still be voiced and you can post negative replies, type a message.

I it impossible to actively annoy anybody.

You, or other users, might feel annoyed. But that is up to you and not the person who writes something or clicks on something.

It's similar to a dog barking on the other side of the street. It might annoy you. But it's unlikely that the dog decided to annoy you.

Why did he post the sad emooji then ?

Think it's evident they are doing that very well by themselves.

Maybe snowflakes should get over themselves.

You never answered my question. ( one more time )

Whats your post count on a subject that does not bother you.

I cant go counting them as, that would be classed as Stroking :cheesy:

Come on do tell 60-70 ?

You deliberately try to annoy people and then call them "snowflakes" when they get do annoyed ?

Are you labelling them as "snowflakes" to annoy them even more ?

You can see the post count in the top right hand corner , you don't need to count them individually

I did say that I am not really bothered about whether the emoojis are there are not , that was after some posters assumed that I was extremely upset and distraught aswell as being a weak sensitive  snowflake .

And I just clarified that although I am in favour of them being removed, I am not that bothered either way .

Posters often over react  and go to extremes .

I’m not sure we can…

We who disagree get accused by some of stalking them when all we are doing is responding (with words) to comments with which we disagree, object, find daft or outrageously idiotic…..

If those same posters wrote intelligent and agreeable comments, they’d read favorable response…. Or a big pretty thumbs up to stroke their sensitive ego !!!

Honestly , stop over reacting .

Its just two emojis been removed and its not such a serious matter and no ones THAT bothered by it .

Any way Bye bye , are you going outside to pull faces at passers by trying to annoy them ?

Omg, it's clear who the offenders are, the stalkers, the abusers of the negative reactions.

They're the members I'm reading with the childlike comments.

i was getting too many ...............

The sad and confused both mostly looked like a constipated face. I never used them. I say we use the middle finger. Straight to the point.

Now I was thinking something similar.

This forum, I posted an article earlier this year, the very first comment was the funniest ever (the most handsome foreigners), I couldn't stop laughing.

The member, quite witty and deserving a laugh emoji, he had about 3000 laughs (or there abouts).

I visited my post recently, he's had all his laughs removed.

From my perspective, the reason the "sad" and "confused" icons were being "abused" was because there were not enough options.  If someone wrote something that was a sad story, that was the time to use the "sad" icon--not because you didn't like the post, but because you were saddened as you read it.  The reason it was abused was because there was no "thumbs down" icon that would clearly indicate a dislike of what was posted, rather than being sad at reading it.

In short, the problem would be better solved by the addition of emoticons rather than by their subtraction.  I would suggest adding a thumbs-down icon, along with returning the sad and confused icons.

Yes, but...

IMHO especially older people, including myself, are not used to lots of different emojis and stickers and thumbs whatever.

Some time ago I had a couple of LINE conversations with some girls. Sometimes, when I asked a question, I received an emoji as an answer. But what did it mean?

I learned today that this forum editor has an emoji button. Then a long list of emojis comes up. And we can even search by text for the emoji versions of i.e. "rolling eyes".

But when we read posts there is no reverse translation. I.e. what do those icons mean? ???? ???? ????  I have no idea!

A few thumbs up or down or laugh are easy to understand. But for many of them we, or at least I, need a dictionary.

Been here for over 11 years while originally  posting on visa rules and alike.
I did notice some snarky remarks at times and thought that inappropriate. I noticed early on some comments with requests for sincere  reply’s  and thought that surely will stop many of the snarkers.
One day back in 2016 I stepped out into the World News forum.
Being a rookie at posting opinions on a forum, I became aquatinted with some commonly used verbiage  , trolling, deflect, flaming, off topic etc etc etc.

I began to see the whole liberal world through the lens of  Reuters and cnn.

Nobody’s brought up  posting defensively ! There are times when posting can be interpreted  the wrong way, Im not allowed to mention the possible outcome! So using the recently deleted emoji’s were the next best thing , they were easy to get at ,without getting in trouble imop .
Now my profile page is practically bare , because of my political views I think I was given the majority of the deleted emoji’s! Thats ok with me , i didn't find them offensive.

Someone mentioned the thumbs down  in addition to the ones that are up now. There must be a dislike option imop
