If you're talking about picking up a freelancer, you don't know, off the street or Beach Road for a short time, then in my opinion you're better going to a short time hotel. There's always an element of risk, she might get crazy on you, or demand more money, all sort of things can go wrong, so if you're in a STH it's easy to just get away. At your own place...well, it can get very difficult.

And a chance that your condo might get a visit on your absence.

And maybe let that person alone while you are in the shower.

And maybe have some (spiked?) drinks together.

Too many things can go wrong.

Make sure the security guards record the details of their ID card and possibly keep that ID card and give her a visitor pass.

Obviously that is no guarantee that there are no problems, but at least some possible thieves will think twice before committing a crime with their ID details recorded.

That reminds me about a long time ago when I stayed in a hotel which was frequently visited by "guests". With one of those girls which I picked up I was not so sure, and I thought I make sure that the guy behind the counter keeps her ID card. When I told him he said something like: Don't worry, I know her, she is a regular guest here...

For 30 years my firm rule: "Keep your own nest clean".

Who has no 270.-THB - 300.-THB for a ST motel, should then just every 2nd time indulge his desire.

So he gets the money for the motel then also together ????

After 10 minutes you know whether someone is good or not. I wonder how guys get thru life if they cannot assess the character of somebody in 10 minutes.

If you are picking up a women without 10 minutes of talk I wonder how desperate you must be.

Leave money lying there as a test. Say 120 baht.

ST hotel can be around 120 baht for two hours in certain cities.....

but I've never gone there.   I take them to my 10,000,000,000 estate with 100 Rolexes lying on my bed.

give them a spare key in case they want to come back......

It is certainly OK to do that in places like Pattaya.

But you need to both mentally and physically check a few things before proceeding too far.

First establish if the beautiful bit of fluff is in fact the gender you actually want to be with. This happened to me when I first went to Thailand. Picked up a beauty on Beach Road. Thought she had a sore throat when she spoke. Didn't speak much; just gestures. Found out later at the room. After the shock; I thought I'd have another try. Went down Soi Diana and met the wife.

When you get to the room; make sure the safe, or any place you keep your valuables, is locked.

If you take off your jewellery, don't just put it to the side and forget about it in passion. Especially if you have had a drink and likely to fall asleep.

If you must take a shower, make sure she/he joins you.

Establish a price at the start - write it down - and get her/him to sign it. If they are too drunk, or drugged up, to sign; get a decent finger/thumb print. and lock the bit of paper away..

If you live any higher ground floor, don't go to the balcony in the morning for a big stretch.

Don't believe all the stories about wanting a nice farang to live with for ever more.

No problems so far, after quite a few years.  I do 'vet' them first though and also my wife is generally with me. She's a pretty good judge of character.

I'd have to okay it with the wife first.

What about writing the ID number under a thumb-print. That would send the appropriate message.

Never had any problems bringing girls back home from decent night clubs or bars around who was not employed bar girls, but stayed hotels and guesthouses where there have been quite loud and dramatic incidents with hysterical girls demanding and accusing men for not paying and hitting them.

I guess as long you meet them decent places, and treat them well you minimize the risk as well not to drunk and looses it everytime you go out.

I preferred freelancers but decent bar girls also do have the more security built around them if they work in good bars. I just did not like the bar game and buying the girl versus dancing and meeting girls who where out for fun and maybe extra money.

Unfortunately many of us men “not all” dont think clearly when it comes down to our desires  ! Far to often the urge to rationalize/ irrationalize is done with the other head ,so to speak.
Imop Op, Safe to say use a short time room/ hotel until you get to know the stranger!

Bang on the money there Riclag.

Some are also pizzed and drugged up. So there is the mix if drink, desire, hornyness and irrationality.

Totally fine bringing a freelancer back to your condo, same bar girl or agogo girl, you should take precautions though

although they are probably more trust worthy than most farang, don't leave money lying about and don't go to the shower leaving shorts\money where they are, you don't know how short of money and desperate they may be, merit and all that rubbish, having said that i wouldn't recommend leaving money lying about in front of shady farang

Just make sure everything of value is locked up, in another locked room, in a safe, or even in a suitcase, which is locked and out of view. Cash, jewelry, laptops, etc. You can do that while she is taking a shower.

Most of these kinds of crimes are ones of opportunity. Out of sight, out of mind. Leaving valuables sitting around is asking for trouble. Why take risks you don't have to?

There's normally a good reason the girl is freelance. the few stories i have heard of people being drugged or had stuff stolen is always by freelancers.

Hua hin a few years ago, guy was knocked out by some peanuts that were offered to him by two girls. They didnt steal anything from his condo just ordered aload of stuff of the internet with his credit card, which he didnt find out until the stuff had been delivered to some random address in Bangkok. I also had an incidence there with my watch, again freelancers.....if anything happens you have no where to go, plus they will know how long you are in Thailand for and they wil juts stay away from that area untill you have left.

As the idea from poster above to get the girl to put a thumb print on paper because shes too drunk to sign, could actually get you in more trouble than you thought.

If the women is too drunk to hold a pen then i definately would take them home and even if i did i certainly wouldn't want to rattle em in that state.

Everyone knows what the going rate is, if you have an issue over the amount than you are probably a tight <deleted>.
