Masked people

Featured Replies

Just back in Thailand after a few months break. Is there a new outbreak of [COVID] ?  I see, 99% of Thais and 10% of farang "Still" wearing the [masks]. I do feel sorry for the little kids made to wear these [masks].

Personally, it makes me feel safer....From observation I'd say it's about 98/2 masked versus unmasked....

Here, in CM Doctors have put out warnings about a particularly viralent flu that is now breaking out in TH & to stay masked....

We did Makro & Big C runs + a funeral in the past 3 days & out of all those people I only saw 2 unmasked....

I keep extra space between me & unmasked people....

What does it matter to you?

Thais, and more than a few foreigners, are happy to stick with a mask, myself included. No doubt you're walking around maskless, up to you.

Yea, and some people persist in wearing jeans instead of shorts !!!

I just can't get my head around it.

Darn it , another sleepless night. Wondering wondering wondering. Why why why.

Personally, I hate wearing a mask, and in UK I was classified as 'exempt'

For me the worst thing about Thailand today and would be a big No No if I was thinking of a holiday in LOS.

I believe that it is more to prevent you infecting other people that to protect you, so as I am fully Vacced. why should I wear a mask?

Yes, lots of (mostly Thais) still wear a mask.

I don't wear a mask anymore since about a month or two since we don't have to wear them anymore.

And the good news is that nobody ever complained.

Some people (with masks) turn around i.e. in lifts. But obviously I don't know if they would also do that if I would wear a mask.

Relax, it's up to you what you do.

At this point you're a sheep if you wear it and a sheep if you don't. So do what makes you comfortable.

Nobody is saying you should.  Mask wearing is not mandatory in Thailand and every day sees more people going maskless.

I'm used to wearing a mask now.  Don't care.  I haven't had a cold since pre-covid days compared to 2-3 a year prior.

I would welcome a government propaganda campaign with this message.

Respect all people's decisions to choose to mask or not.

There are people in high risk groups that we recommend to keep masking but that is their choice too.

I wear a N95 face mask anytime I'm close around other people outside of home, and have since the beginning of the pandemic, and will continue to do so until COVID is no longer a health concern, whenever that may be.

Didn't bother me when I used to wear one periodically because of what was very bad seasonal air pollution in Bangkok. Doesn't bother me now after almost three years of COVID. Kinda just part of my standard going out routine, just like carrying an umbrella to protect against rain.

I'm age 60+ and fully boosted with COVID vaccines. But the vaccines alone (without masking) aren't 100% protection against coming down with COVID, and actually more like 50% or so just against contracting Omicron depending on the timing post vaccination (though much better protection against symtomatic infection or serious illness from COVID).

So masking is just a sensible additional layer of protection on top of COVID vaccinations. Since I have no desire to spin the COVID roulette wheel and risk the chance of coming down with something serious or long-lasting that the vaccines, in rare instances, might not prevent.

Today at the One Stop Immigration center at Chamchuri square 100% of all folks were wearing masks as well as the I/O's.  On the LTR side they were wearing masks as well.  Seems that even if there is no mask mandate most are still wearing them.  On the ride home on the MRT from Sam Yan I also observed 100% wearing masks at 4pm, but then the cars were full of Uni students.

At my Sons school (a well known Int’l school in Bangkok) the head teacher was stood outside telling arriving children and parents masks are no longer required.

I thought it was a good response to put a stop to the follow on hysteria and fear which continues.

This issue is pretty much over.... That said, if someone has cold symptoms I full expect them to be socially responsible and wear a mask.

i really dont understand things like this.

first of all its not any ones business to talk about this, why they are wearing masks... im sorry but its so stupid. its not up to you even talk about this.

even before the covid many people wear masks in asian countries.. and now because of covid its just a safety thing. I cannot understand why some people questioning this. covid is not gone or disappear. its still a threat. thats a fact! i never got covid because i obeyed the rules and did and doing my best.

is it difficult sometimes.. well yes and no. mostly no. wearing a mask will not kill you but not wearing might. simple as that.

and covid is still so dangerous because of people like this thinking like this. this is a topic for only people not educated. im serious.

The lounge is not the place to discuss mask wearing, that can and should be done in the covid forum. This topic is therefore:
