Red-light district oriented (75%)

A large part of this comes from observing where the Thai male bashers are geographically located. Pattaya is definitely an epicenter for this activity. The "I only talk to Thai women" mentality is only sustainable in a red-light district one-night stand environment. As soon as you get out of that setting it's next to impossible to avoid interacting with Thai males because

Guys in Pattaya say they arent there for that stuff.

you are obviously an intelligent guy, gecko. it's just a crying shame that your knowledge and opinions on this topic are totally misguided. it's kind of disappointing.

I hope you get over your disappointment, Bob, really I do, but what you should be asking yourself is how many of those criteria apply to you. My impression is that you may be in danger of being chewed up and spit out by Thailand down the road. Just a word of advice from the river watcher.

if that day ever comes then so be it. let's face it, there are many better places to live than here. Thailand is not the be all and end all!!

I wasn't talking about the kind of chewing up and spitting out where you're escorted off the premises.

Travel broadens the mind, right?

The vast bulk of Thais have been circumscribed within an education system that barely takes notice of any events outside Thailand. Many can't read a map of their own country, let alone one of the world. It makes for very narrow minds.

It's not just Thailand, there are areas of Australia where I would have to dumb myself down in speech and subject matter to be accepted.

Last paragraph incorrect , just include the whole country .

No, I don't have spreadsheets and statistics, but these observations weren't made casually or pulled out of a hat on the spur of the moment either.  Insights into how these conclusions were reached are shared below:

Doesn't matter how you reached those conclusions, if you can't prove those %.  Even if correct, it's still your opinion. I'm often accused of not giving a link when I only giving an opinion, and you are claiming your stats as fact.

The profile of the Thai male basher:

Other than saying not to drink with Thai males, I doubt I've ever bashed Thai males generally, though I have had problems with individual Thai males, as with males of many countries.

Adding 2+2 and coming up with 2,000.

Many farangs live in Pattaya and spend no time whatsoever in bars or any other thing related to prostitution.

Some do and some don't.

Based on your argument, any males living near King's Cross station in London could be a monger as hookers operate in that vicinity.

3. Racist (99%)

There is a very high correlation between posters making negative comments about Thai males and racist posts about Indians, Chinese, Arabs, non-white politicians in the West, hostility to BLM, hostility to non-white immigration to home countries, etc. Almost a 100% correlation.

LOL. You are using the posters on here to come to a conclusion about all farang males. The posters on here would be a minority of farang males living in LOS.

If you are confining your observations to posters on this forum, you should say so.

4. Socially isolated (89%)

Quite a number of the most vociferous Thai male bashers also have extremely high post counts and average posts/day which is telling me that they are spending an inordinate amounts of time in solitary activities. Also, anyone who has such a deep-seated hostility towards half the Thai population is not likely to have much of a social life here in Thailand.

Depends on the social life, doesn't it? Spending time socialising with BGs is not the same as playing tennis with hiso Thais.

I spent a lot of time on TVF during the 2000s because I was at work and the nature of my work allowed me plenty of time to post on TVF during the day.

When I lived in LOS, I spent less time on it because I didn't have a computer on line, and had to use internet cafes.

The last year when I lived in an hotel I spent too much time on it because it was too hot to go out and I had wifi.

I spend too much time on it now, in a vain attempt to keep some sort of link to the country I loved alive.

Eventually I may tire of it and do something more productive

None of the above is proof that I bash Thai males.

I just wasn't interested in making friends with them.

5. Substance abuser (70%)

You can get a pretty good idea of who is posting while inebriated. Many posters openly admit to it. Super high post counts, becoming overly animated, and having an exaggerated opinion of one's wittiness or humorousness are further signs of this. This posting behavior is frequently observed in posters who engage in Thai male bashing.

Haven't drunk alcohol for 30 years and don't do illegal drugs.

Deduced from background information shared over time, the quality of posts, grammatical skills, etc. Do ASEANNOW's best and brightest posters engage in Thai bashing or wallow in other forms of grievance politics? No, they do not.

I'm of upper middle class origins, went to the best private schools, joined the military for a few years, became a nurse for the rest of my working life.

If that makes me a working class stiff of poor educational background, so be it.

BTW, I very much doubt that your opinion of ASEANNOW's best and brightest posters is the same as my own. I would probably be accurate to say 180 degrees opposed.

Largely based on average age of forum members, anecdotal disclosure, suspected sedentary lifestyle, anecdotal disclosures about diet, alcohol and tobacco consumption.

LOL. Anyone of advanced age is going to have age related health problems, regardless of opinion of Thai males.

I don't even understand why you included it, unless you consider not being anti Thai males males makes old people healthy.

No, they do not. Finally, if you use Jared Diamond's broad definition of intelligence as "the ability to extract benefit from one's environment," anybody who limits the potential resources available to them based on arbitrary criteria such as race or religion or gender, in my opinion, is by definition not as smart as they would otherwise be.

I'm betting you and your parents were working class and you have no degree.

Why would you expect the rest of us to be any different?

As for the OP,

Why would I want to be friends with guys that know nothing about anything?

(Thai or foreigner)

I have quite a few male Thai friends but to be honest, all of them behave as if they are 10-15 years younger, even they might not with their job or business itself.

Usually they bore me, only for socialising with food and drinks, as they can never make any decision themselves and basically behave like teenagers, also in what they like to do.

Those who are different, are usually just as busy as I am, so we rarely meet, but very few of them.

I have been here for close to decade. I was 23 when I came, I noticed, that male thais usually form their friendship bonds earlier in school and carry them for life, or university. I was making significant friends when I was hanging out with the university ones who were interested in other cultures. Fast forward to my 30s. I have thai male friends less than say 4 or 5. Even the ones I have i barely see once a year.  I assume, people are wary of friends in older age , or they already have enough that they don't need one. Especially who speak a different language. I do however have some friends who have many Thai friends, but they are all of Asian decent and can relate to the culture better. Most became friends with their GFs group of friends and thats how they ended up together. Also, I wouldnt advice making friends with Thai guys who speak only Thai as misunderstandings can result in violent clashes. If the Thais are well educated, educated abroad, or lived abroad on a work holiday, they are much more relatable and easier to be friends with as they understand your culture or atleast are open about it. Yes, I often do get asked as why do you come to Thailand, and do you like thai women, You just dodge the question as it is an answer to judge you.

In the town where I live, I am a member of their cycling group, made up of ladies and men, I have many friends

Friends or acquaintances?

How many would let you stay with them for up to a month? I have a friend that let me stay that long a number of times, some just couple nights.

I have loads of acquaintances, and not many friends.
