The weather totally sucks

What is wrong with the weather?It's December but still rain storms everyday and high humidity(80%up).It really makes me sick and it's getting worse every year.My first 10 years from mid November until February blue skys and no rain at all,,after that the climate changed or shifted.I guess I get really tired with the weather,over 300 raining days in my area(Bowin,Chonburi) .Thailand weather totally sucks.I don't understand how people can say they live here because of the nice weather.2024 my daughter will finish her studies and then i'm gone to south Spain,over 300 sunshine days.Guess as older I get as more I dislike the climate and weather here.By the way forget all weather apps I have 4 different apps and all of them are not able to predict the weather correct;not even close

Spain is pretty cold in winter. 8 degrees in Madrid now. Welcome to that. I would rather have the odd shower and a warm winter.

Oh well,I didn't mean Madrid but something like Alicante,Malaga or maybe Canary Islands.Places like that the weather is predictable,but Canary Islands is pretty pricey

Rubbish !! Pattaya has an average daytime temp of 30-33 C all year round with virtually no rain Dec - March.

Totally agree. I'm having exactly the same thoughts. I live here 34 years. I remember the blue sky and dry seasons with no rain at all. This year the rainy season started early May and is still ongoing. We were lucky to spend 3 months in summer traveling through several Mediterranean countries. The weather is awful since we returned late August. 2 weeks ago we were in Khao Lak. I believe it was raining every day. Coming back to Europe the weather there was also crazy. It was hotter in the north than in the Mediterranean countries. We encountered a couple of days heavy rain in southern Italy while north Italy was going through one of their worst draughts. 

Climate change seems to be around everywhere.

The seasons aren't exact. The wet season here can be shorter or longer from year to year. Sometimes even continuing through to February. Add climate change to that and it is even more variable.

 

Even Spain is getting what are termed "exceptional weather conditions" nowadays.

Yes, agree! I like Spain but prefer Portugal. Benidorm and Costa del Sol are preferable with the Canary Islands even more so. Lisbon doesn't usually get below 15C in Winter. However, one Christmas I stayed in Nazare. For two days we were strongly advised NOT to go outside. After the gales and torrential rain had subsided, I noticed most road signs were blown over almost flat and awnings had been torn off shops, rubbish of all sorts everywhere.

I'll take a bit of rain over smog every day.   Lovely green also, instead of dusty brown.

March/April can sometimes be just too much in Thailand. So hot that you want to be somewhere else.

To be fair , I never heard an ex pat say the weather was nice here. Maybe tourists think it is but if you live here you see it for what it is. Never used to be this bad. In the old days the cool season was actually cold even in Bangkok. Jacket needed at night time. In the villages hoar frost and icy puddles in the morning. 

Nearest you can get to that these days is a frosty whore in Pattaya.

I must admit that I'm waiting with baited breath for the cool season the start up north, near Chiang Mai.

No sign of it so far. The sun is still baking hot at 8am when I go for my morning walk. It's still 22°C plus at first light.

The weather up North in Chiang Mai has been brilliant for a couple of weeks now. Nice and cool overnight, cool in the morning and pleasant evenings. Too hot in the sun during the day but that's siesta time anyway. As for the rain, I'm super happy to see it because it keeps the smog down plus too much rain is far preferable than the opposite

Paint your roof white, insulate and ventilate your roof space......we did both those things and we hardly use A/C more than a couple of weeks per year or so, even then only in dehumidify mode.

Flooding in September (historically) during some years but only for a few days, almost never at any other time.

I use the aircon about two months of the year. Have not even used a fan for the last month.

I am wondering if there is a direct correlation of the level of discomfort, and the size of a poster's beer gut.

The rain is no problem, it is good for the garden  but it should be cold season now and with temperatures above 37 degrees it surely no cold season. Several years ago it was much colder and we didn't need the airco and not even fans, but nowadays we shower with cold water and sleep with airco.....Indeed strange weather

Same here, i never sleep with the AC on and only use it much during April/May

Air 'conditioner' ... not so much for temp, but to lower the RH from daily 60-80%, if not 100%, 'dehumidifying' down to a comfy 40-50-60%.

 

Temps are usually no problem, and I can take 35° up to 40° outside, if in the shade with a breeze.  RH can be a bit much though.  Weather temp, once at body temp/37°, you won't cool off with the breeze as much.

 

Last 5 yrs living in Memphis area, TN, USA, 38-40° for a month, was not rare, and I worked outside.  Easily 6 months of 35+° those last 5 yrs.   Bit different from 4 seasons at Philly, PA, USA, both mild summers & winters, relative to other extremes of the USA temps.

Please can you have a word with my Mrs and niece? I always try to set the A/C to 'Dry'. Unfortunately, they both change it to 'Cool' and ask me why I persist in doing this? According to them you can't ever cool down unless you set it to 'Cool'.

Agree. I normally take April off in the UK and other parts of Europe.

 

All round I'd say the weather here is fine (for me, anyway), even residing in hot 'n sticky Rayong, E. Thailand.

 

Certainly, spending a full Winter in the UK seems a lot more daunting. And expensive.
