No Special Measures for Chinese Visitors

BANGKOK, (TNA) – The country will not need any strict disease control measure for Chinese visitors, the public health minister said.

Anutin Charnvirakul, the public health minister and deputy prime minister, said officials from the Department of Disease Control, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Ministry of Transport discussed measures to be imposed in response to China's planned country reopening on Jan 8 and they agreed. that existing measures would be enough.

 

The Chinese government required outbound Chinese travelers to undergo RT-PCR tests for COVID-19 and receive at least three doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Most Chinese people had natural antibodies for COVID-19 also because 60% of the Chinese population already contracted the disease, Mr Anutin said.

We all know that the Chinese fake everything so why not PCR tests?  Three doses of their now admitted vaccines that do not work against covid is laughable if it was not so serious.

Is this the same health minister who derided foreigners as dirty and bringing in the virus? Double standards or what! And we all know why. Money talks and those living in Thailand put at risk to keep the pay masters happy.

Of course their Covid vaccine doesn't work. That's why they still have record numbers of infections. They are good at building little plastic "junk" that the rest of the world can do without but as far as contributing anything meaningful to the world and society as a whole..... probably will never happen.

New variants are however the way out of this mess so maybe it's a good thing.

 

Nothing any government does will make any difference, the virus is clearly in control.

No attribution. What date was that statement made? Possibly when we were dealing with alpha and delta when the statement was true. You also disingenuously failed to mention that those vaccines remain effective at preventing serious illness and death. The Chinese vaccines are junk. Pure and simple. They protect against nothing. That's why the rest of the world is moving along while China is locking down tens of millions of people to control the virus which continues to rage there.

The list you quoted without attribution made no mention of Chinese vaccines. I wasn't referring to them and I don't dispute that the Chinese vaccines are less effective than the ones listed. If you're going to claim "the truth is the truth" then it would be both helpful and in compliance with the rules if you provided the link you have now twice referred to.

60% would be approximately 800,000,000 Chinese have contracted Covid in the last 3 years?  Uh, this is not what the Chinese government keeps saying.  Daily Covid cases in China have been reported as in the 1000's (if you believe that then I have some ocean front properties for sale in Florida at a steep discount).  

 

Let's see where we are in March, April or May of 2023.  Songkran is supposed to be in mid April and it looks like it will be a big deal unlike the last two years.  The reason why Australia, New Zealeand and Germany have not put up entry restrictions for Chinese is because they do not expect an influx of visitors.  Probably the most popular destination for most Chinese travelers will be LOS. Does anyone believe a million Chinese travelers will go to  Europe next year? The US has a very large Chinese population and even I doubt a million Chinese will visit there next year.  The only exception would for Chinese who have relatives in the US.

So why did Sky News report there were 250 million infections in China in December alone? That's almost five times the entire population of the UK.

While the Thai government are treating the Chinese travelers issue lightly, said Chinese travelers entering from China to Australia could soon be hit with renewed Covid restrictions amid surging virus cases in the country.

The drastic move would come after the US announced on Thursday morning it would impose mandatory Covid tests on Chinese tourists just days before China is set to re-open its borders.

Despite reports of chaos, its true extent is unknown after Chinese authorities stopped reporting daily case counts and deaths.

A spokesman for Australia’s Health Minister Mark Butler said decisions were yet to be made on the developing situation...

This is incorrect. The Chinese vaccines have been effective against preventing severe disease. I used the word "less" very deliberately. It is utterly reprehensible that your ilk like to conflate protection against infection with protection against severe illness. They are different issues and the the latter is by far the most important.

 

The problem for China has been insufficient vaccinations, not so much bad vaccines.

There is now more and more information if anyone wishes to check (the UK .gov web site is a great place for accurate information which totally contradicts main stream media and government statements). The so called rabbit hole is now more like the truth to a beacon of light. In the old wild west they called them snake oil salesmen.
