UK; Girl,7, in a critical condition after shooting outside funeral injures six people

Featured Replies

A 7-year-old girl is in a 'life threatening' condition in hospital after being injured in a suspected drive-by shooting in London.

Six people were injured in the event, which occurred near Euston station in the north of the city.

Met Police officers said they were called to Phoenix Road at 1.30pm on Saturday to reports of a shooting.

The incident happened near a church where a funeral was taking place, leaving six people injured.

Three women – aged 48, 54 and 41 – required hospital treatment, with their injuries assessed as non-life threatening, though the 48-year-old may have life-changing injuries.

Heartbreaking, but how are Brits supposed to protect their families when only criminals carry shooters? Seems almost daily I'm reading about firearm toting criminals over there. Do Brits feel safe over there? No wonder I see so many in Thailand

If it is a new arrival to the kingdom, then that's a failure of the immigration system, OBVIOUSLY.

So you want to make this about immigration.

It seems it isn’t only the gun that has a trigger.

Just curious as to the shooter is.

Are you denying that immigrants commit serious crimes in the UK?

Don't you think there should be a zero tolerance policy on that?

Don't you think they should be careful about who is allowed in?

Do you even care about Britain and the British?

Why are you trying to force this into being an immigration issue ?

Your question is dumbed down and over simplified - No, no one suggests immigrants do not commit serious crimes.. they clearly do, so do British nationals - is there any proportionate difference ??

There should be a zero tolerance policy on any serious crime.

1 hour ago, 2009 said:

The British Authorities should be careful about who is allowed in... i.e. those with existing criminal records of serious crime should not be permitted entry to the UK and those who have been caught committing serious crime jailed then deported.

Authorities should also be careful to monitor existing British criminals found to have committed serious crime in the past.

Yes, which I why don’t like to see thinly veiled bigotry and racism, most immigrants come to the UK, work hard, fit in, contribute to a cosmopolitan society.

That said - none of this shooting above has anything to do with immigration...  It was a drive by shooting... it could equally have been british born nationals as it is immigrants or even someone who’d travelled into the UK for the ’specific task’ [shooting].....

Making this an ‘immigration issue’ without any further information is simply highlighting a bias.

Another tragedy. Hopefully, those who did this will be brought to justice.

Re the argument about gun control. Imo the data says it all: In 2021, 35 people died in the UK from gun-related crimes. In the US, the figure was 14,000 (2018 figures; latest available). I doubt that anything like 14,000 people were "saved" as a result of them owning a gun.

I’ll bet I was in London more recently than you.

Yesterday even, less than half a mile away from this shooting incident.

When was the last time you were in London, anywhere in London at all?

RIP to all the victims. And sympathy to decent London residents who haven't relocated yet. Maybe Sadiq can arrange a diversity fireworks display to help those affected?

Which country has the most gun deaths in the world?
Half of all firearm-related deaths  occurred in just six countries – all in the Americas – according to a study. Brazil had the largest gun deaths toll, with over 43,000 people killed that year. The US was next with 37,200. It was followed by Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Guatemala.

I think me means the suspected nationality of the shooters is not being reported on the BBC main news page...

... most likely because its completely unknown....  This ‘immigration / ethnic minority’ discussion is completely moot until more is know and only points to the negative bias of some of the posters making such comments.

Well, that should appease some of the posters even if the black colour is only associated with a vehicle.... :whistling:

Let's revisit this when they release the details.

I suspect any "bias" will end up being 100% correct.

Don’t think so…
