Popular Post webfact
Picture: Thai Rath The deputy spokesman for the Royal Thai Police spoke yesterday after a meeting concerning allegations made by Taiwanese actress An Yu Qing or Charlene An that she and three male friends were extorted of 27,000 baht in Bangkok on January 4th. Huay Khwang in downtown Bangkok has been mentioned as the location of the alleged extortion incident in previous reports. The case has caused a firestorm of controversy in both Thailand and Taiwan. It has been reported as damaging to the RTP as well as Thai tourism, something admitted by the RTP themselves. Pol Maj-Gen Jirasan Kaewsaeng-ek said that the Thai public should get their information from the Thai police not social media, reported Thai Rath. Then it would be reliable. He assured the public that there had been no evidence tampering to protect the officer or officers involved and that if there was evidence of wrong-doing it would be dealt with justly. He said there was no evidence as yet but he reiterated that no e-cigarette device was planted on the actress to fit her up. CCTV is being analysed from various sources but the Grab car dash cam video from the night in question had already been deleted as it was more than 20 days old. Body cam CCTV footage is also part of this analysis. Ten people have been interviewed so far. The actress and her three male companions have all left Thailand to different destinations on 5th and 9th January. Jirasan said that more clarity was needed from Charlene herself. The International Affairs Division of the RTP have been in contact with the Foreign Ministry to contact the Taiwanese authorities. If necessary officers will fly to Taiwan to get more evidence directly from the actress. An earlier Thai Rath report before the meeting suggested that might happen today. Pol Maj-Gen Theeradech Thammasuthee said that the RTP were still trying to contact all the people involved. He believed one of the men involved was a guide with the group. Regarding the CCTV he said it was all from afar and the people and what they were doing at the checkpoint cannot be identified clearly. Picture: Thai Rath Pressed if everything will be cleared up this week he was evasive saying only that the RTP were gathering evidence to provide clarity. "I can only answer that which I know," he snapped. ASEAN NOW notes that the incident is shrouded in claim and counter claim and has caused widespread interest and comment not least of all on our own site. ASEAN NOW is trying to talk to the actress and net idol herself. One interesting area that the Thai media has not spoken about was previous RTP chief Pol Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk who introduced CCTV at roadside checkpoints. Amid much fanfare in the Thong Lo area during the later stages of the pandemic it was stated that this was a requirement at checkpoints both with body-cams and other surveillance of a broader nature. The fact that on this occasion the RTP are saying that such evidence is unclear shows the ineffectiveness of this initiative. Or darker still critics of the RTP might suggest, it will only be used when it exonerates the RTP. In this case the length of time between the incident and its revelation is also proving highly problematic. Suffice to say that due to the high profile of the victim - and her huge social media following - the issue has blown up to huge proportions involving the chief of the RTP Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat and even RTP overseer Prayuth Chan-ocha, the Thai PM, who has demanded that heads should roll if guilt can be found of extortion by the police. The story is set to run all week in the Thai media and will be further reported her on ASEAN NOW. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-01-30 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Of course there's a CCTV video, we all know that, but exactly what it shows and what the poor dear is actually facing is another question entirely, I seriously doubt it can be seen that she is facing extortion, I mean, how does CCTV video show that, based on the stills we have seen and the distance involved. Popular Post Robin
So, what were the charges against he "Actress"? Appearing to be drunk? Having Vaping equipment in her hand-bag? I do not see that she has been charged with any offence, so what excuse do RTP have for taking her to police station and 'fining' her 27,000 baht Why was she made to kneel and apologise to them? What was thee reason her taxi was stopped. I do not see anything except RTP harassment and intimidation following false arrest. This is getting too big to be just brushed aside and a few RTP transferred. 13 3 4
