27,000 doesn’t seem a lot when you divided by four people or five people but they do this to her three times a day for five times a week and figure out how much they’re getting per year. It comes out to be quite a lot TIT.

How much cash would you expect them to be carrying? That amount is certainty more than I usually have in my wallet..... I suspect, had she been carrying more, it would have been a higher figure.

Hey the Thai police are getting a trip to Singapore, how nice. That shows me that

I can go safely to Singapore, but not so much safely to Thailand?

Maybe it is time for Thailand to get more control of their corruption that

is pretty bad. Ha ha ha, just joking, it will be my grand son who may see

less corruption in Asia.  Sad but true.

It might be your grandson but wouldn't count on it.

You can't "run" for PM.  Chuwit ran for governor of Bangkok twice and lost both times. He did win a seat in parliament but he was kicked out by the Constitutional Court.  If he wanted to be PM, he'd have to find a party to support him -- not that anybody in the senate would vote for him,

So Prawits not running for governor being nominated by PPRP  and the Shin daughter's not running but nominated...yes they are running just not voted in by the public but voted in by the senate and Parliament...

Are they hitching a ride on big joke private plane.

Funny,  he flies up to a farm to investigate a Thai hanging himself that the locals can't solve yet he seems to be left out of this big case.

the headline says the cops were axed, but the link says they were transferred for releasing the actress:

The seven Huai Khwang police officers, implicated in the extortion scandal, were transferred today (Tuesday). The transfer order, issued by the commander of the 2nd division of the MPB, accused the seven officers of dereliction of duty for setting the Taiwanese actress free after they found an electronic cigarette in her possession.

This extortion news have gone regional and hurt Thailand tourism image. Still a chance for the authority to turn this around and use this news to their betterment. The corrupt cops must be severely dealt with the full extent of the law. No sacking or transfer but indict them and jail them. Imprisonment for extortion is between 5 to 10 years and fine. Make an example of these crooked cops as a deterrent to other cops and some closure to this bad image. Well at least until the next corruption very soon.

for sure, that's the right way. but I suspect extortion is needed if an RTP wants to purchase an elephant ticket to move up the ranks. the existing system requires they bring the most money in to get the best position, so extortion is rewarded and the best are rewarded the most. but if you get caught then you are transferred out of the spotlight for awhile. it won't change as long as the hidden hand allows it, unfortunately ????

Watched the arrival of the Singaporean guy and suddenly wanted to shout at the screen, "Don't stay on any floor higher than the ground floor!"

Big case? wouldn't be of too much interest to Big Joke - just blown out of proportion because their bluff was called and that scuttled their earner.

They've tried to kill him a few times.

Remember the grenade being chucked into the reception of his hotel on Soi 24 many years ago as a warning.

Don't recall that one, but if they wanted to, I'm sure it would happen.  The live or dud explosi-ve thing is just a classic warning (which Chuwit apparently ignored).

Thanks. Could you educate me.

https://vapoholic.co.uk/2022/02/11/where-is-vaping-banned-countries-with-strictest-e-cig-laws/

These are the countries where vaping is banned:

Antigua and Barbuda
Argentina
Australia (unless you have a prescription)
Bhutan
Brazil
Brunei
Cambodia

Colombia
Ethiopia
Gambia
India
Iran
Japan (vaping non-nicotine e-liquid is legal)
N. Korea
Kuwait

Laos
Lebanon
Mauritius
Mexico
Nepal
Nicaragua
Oman
Palestine
Panama

Qatar
Seychelles
Singapore
Sri Lanka
Suriname
Syria
Thailand
Timor-Leste
Turkmenistan
Uganda

Uruguay
Vatican City
Venezuela
Although the rules on vaping will differ from country to country, bans are in place in all these countries so if any of these destinations are on your itinerary then just play it safe and leave your vape products at home.

** This list of countries was correct at the time of writing, although rules changes can occur at any time. Always check the rules of your chosen destination before you travel.

Chuwit reminds me of Rudi Giuliano. Fearless or stupid at going after the mafia.

However, Chuwit is hardly clean, I could tell you a few stories about horrible corrupt things he has done.

Those hidden hands unfortunately are the senior police officer who have the power to recommend promotion and demand bribes. There also are involved in corruptions and are poor role models. Fundamentally the poor pay of junior and senior policemen entice them to corrupt. Most policemen are in debts. Prayut was told about this situation and his reply was the pay structure is too big issue for him to handle and the next government should address this. He is abdicating his duty and promise for police reform.

at the very same time a group of 5 korean female tourists were stopped at that checkpoint, also lileky for some extortion..

Through all night they might have 10 such cases - so 270 000 by 8 almost 35k.

And that might be going every single night

But they don't usually keep all of the money. They take a cut and pass the rest up the chain. Checkpoints are usually given monthly budgets of how much they are expected to collect to be passed up. How else are the guys at the top going to be able to buy condo buildings?

No need to book a sea cruise lads. Just jump in a police car with appropriate insurance and passports and drive down overland. Singapore is that lumpy bit at the tip of the Malay peninsula. Just drive south as far as you can.

Lucrative police jobs generally incur an upfront fee and then monthly rental payments. In most cases it is said that officers higher up the chain set a rental amount and the officers can keep anythiing they make over that which means they could end up making a loss or a big profit. This is the most pratical way to manage things, as it is difficult to get audited accounts for roadblocks etc. This system according to a study by Chula goes all the way up to the police chief who also has to pay for his position.

Are all tourists visiting Thailand aware of this ruling?

Then, the police said vaping devices were illegal. He explained to the police that he and friends bought them in Thailand and did not know they were illegal.

Boondoggle

I have not heard that term in a great while, but then being from the US and when we were working it was always a boondoggle when we traveled.

The chief has to say something. He is hoping people forget, and that he can simply transfer his boys to another station, at full pay, without a reprimand. Why would they be reprimanded? They were just doing the job profile of an RTP officer. My bet is the guys who do not bring back alot of cash to feed the Pyramid scheme, are the ones who face disciplinary action.

Which begs the question who is the Chief of Police paying for his position?
