I have seen the posts in the past with maps where there is burning going on. Can someone point me to the link.

I don't think I can stay here in my old age if this continues for more than 2 weeks per year,

Some people are more sensitive to air pollution than others... if it bothers you so much, please stay away, but do not assume it bothers everyone the same as you...

A fellow who is terrified of water should not live at the beach.. but if he chooses to, he should not scream at everyone else to get out of the water...

you don't have to live here...

it seems, you don't care about others ... but can you accept that some of us do?

breathable air should to be a basic human right!

Consider vitamin B-complex and its ability to mitigate the effects of air pollution.

on such days stay indoors and with air cleaner on full power (lazada from 900b basic, but sufficient).

Outside mask with carbon filter, like for cyclists or for builders doing painting, azbestos.

You also might think of escaping to the seaside for a few days. Or relocating further south - winter pollution comes from as far as china, not only local burning, industrial and car fumes.

NAC, food supplement, and also as a medicine, might help with your lungs, if you have already problem.

Do you think the man should stay somewhere where he is obviously so distressed?

Way too obvious - - he would rather stay and complain which accomplishes nothing... I suggested the same - and i am being dragged for it...

This topic gets regurgitated every year. Over and over again with divided opinion. Nothing is going to change anytime soon. We have to live with it and hope whatever small measures are introduced will reduce the AQI numbers. For me, here in Bangkok right now, sitting on my 5th floor balcony, the air is fine to breathe, I'm not choking or wheezing and the sunshine is nice. Of all the years that this gets discussed, the only times I suffer discomfort, is when riding the motorcycle through traffic in the heat and stuck behind a dirty city bus - those should be eliminated immediately (or at least replaced with latest specification low emmission engines). I feel that if the transport authorities imposed low emission requirements it would be the greatest help. One point, if it really was such an issue then I would not choose to stay here.

The upside: can justify a break from strenuous exercise.

It can get worse than this. There was a period of 4-6 weeks back in 2017 or 2018 when it was almost impossible to find N-95 masks. On the BTS in the morning almost everyone was wearing masks. Time to stock up on the N-95 masks with the "cool flow valves".

I decided back then that in Jan and Feb I would leave for less polluted areas/countries and return in March. Didn't have to do that the last 3 years but it seems that's what I'll be doing again.

The problem is worse currently because of the colder air and the inversion layer. As a general rule, if it's smoggy at ground level but you can still see blue sky through the clouded air, the problem is being exacerbated by the inversion layer which will typically burn off in the afternoon as the sun heats the air from above.

Before moving anywhere it's wise to do research. You sound like you want to move to Thailand but haven't yet. Yes, the air pollution is bad for 2+ months each year. Sometimes rated as the worst in the world during this time. If you are elderly, stay where you are. It isn't worth the hassle and risk to move.

I have been here 10 years bud. The pollution really started getting bad around 1-2 years before covid. Before that the joke was always on Chiang Mai.... now it is practically all over Thailand.

I am not "elderly" yet and the pollution has no present effect on me whatsoever. That doesn't mean I am dumb regarding the issue.

Today is the worst I've seen it in a long time.  Looking out my condo window is smokey haze everywhere.

I suggest folks who suffer with asthma or similar breathing stay indoors today.

Air pollution affects everyone.

Some are just not aware of it....

Doesn't bkk give you enough things to complain about w/o ragging on air pollution? Some people enjoy their lives and others complain... do you think others don't already know about air pollution, water pollution?

What are you trying to accomplish? And calling others stupid? Wow - does that make you smart?

Thailand is polluted, generally dirty/gritty with dangerous roads and feral dogs, that's why your Pad Thai is 1 USD and rent is 200 USD. Try to keep that in mind while you're choking on your morning run.

Life is not free.   20 baht noodle soup and death air to all, or clean air and $15 noodle soup.

No pollution next year, sure.    A quote every year from 1970 as millions are forced to go to the hospital.

I recommend to save yourself.   Plane.  Ticket.  Today.

You must congratulate Thai pollution control department for doing an excellent job in controlling the pollution. I mean, we haven't seen better air quality since they were formed!

Or maybe this is competition... Thailand is currently 6th most toxic destination in the World. But with few tourists going to the 5 above it, we can comfortably say Thailand is World's most toxic tourism destination as of February 2, 2023:

Air Purifier at home: PM2.5 under 12:).

I have the best one availabe after a long investigation.

Outside? Wear a Mask!

Why in February?

Because of the so called weather invertion layers: cold-hot-cold. PM (not prime minister—->particular matter) cant fly high therefore.

The pollution is more or less the same but in February the pollution cant go away:)CD2ABFA8-A2D9-486F-90CB-930D018B21CD.thumb.png.4f0736b7690ce77e8701080cde03c497.png822B2522-102C-4350-91AF-BB2311B7C576.thumb.png.afedb54767a4b30113f36bbda8c0a894.pngAF9BD550-6C18-4325-953A-F1A50967208A.thumb.png.24a0138b26aab776c98168763483f3cb.png
