77kaoded reported that Pol Lt-Col Ekkachai Siri of the tourist police in Phuket got involved after a Canadian tourist said he was attacked on Patong Beach at 2 am on Friday night.

They met up at Bangkok Siriroj Hospital.

Speaking through a French interpreter William Saint, 27, said that he had been out for a stroll on the beach in the area of Patong Condotel when five men roughed him up and took his Rolex and 50,000 baht in cash.

Following the robbery he ran to Beach Road where he saw a taxi and a foot patrol of police.

The police refused to help him, he claimed.

He went to the Bodrum Phuket Patong clinic where they recommended he attend a hospital .

He returned to his room in Kata and next morning went to Bangkok Siriroj where no one who could help him was on duty.

He went back to the hospital yesterday.

Doctors at the hospital said that he had a nose injury and had decided to sort it out in his homeland.

They said he hadn't wanted to make a case against the police but had wondered why the patrol refused to help him.

Now after he was helped by others the tourist police are looking into the matter.

Perhaps he needs a police report before claiming on the insurance.

He lost all his cash so nothing to be gained in helping him. Perhaps he should have offer the police an insensitive I'm sure that would have helped.

I am guessing a ladyboy took his fake Rolex watch and he thought hang on a minute this might work well for me.

Stole his Lolex? Sorry, his Rorex? I mean Rolex? And his 50k? Disturbing.

I hope his insurance compensates him for his losses. They must. After all, that's what insurance is for. To claim for a lost Lolex, I mean Rorex and 50k thb which he incidentally had with him at 2 AM.

me thinks he had something happen earlier in the night. a lb encounter gone wrong. his little quebec ego got hurt so he had to voulez a story up to try and erase the memory of the mistake.

What model Rolex?  I'm looking for one.  Maybe can get a good price.

I would never wear my Rolex during a 2 am walk on Beach Road, nor my diamond encrusted tiara!
