How does having an unnecessary and redundant second Florida State Guard make Florida a great place to live?

 

Stemming the agricultural and septic tank run-off that is leading to more frequent and longer lasting red tides along Florida's beaches would make the state a better place to live, but that's hard and wouldn't get DeSantis on Faux News.  So he does this nonsense instead.

Well, I’ll be damned. The USA is not only defining “Rights” according to which state you are resident but now … wait for it … local warlords! The USA is catching up with the past of many third world cultures … OK and the present of some still existing today. Congratulation Governor … a leading candidate for the Republican Party!

Using state tax money to create state government ownership of a military service could be considered socialism in the US (equal protection for everyone no matter how much tax is paid by the individual). Next DeSantis will want free healthcare for his army and its veterans and tax paid accommodation for every soldier. All of it an additional burden for hardworking taxpayers. What happened to small government? 

Then again, if he sends troops to assist other states will there be any risk of federal troops having to become involved? It all sounds too dangerous.

I've come to realiize that it's best not tot feed this troll. All he does is post cheerleader like comments in order to draw in serious people like yourself. Starve him.

Well he won't get much for that amount. It wouldn't buy him one wing of an F35.  It hardly makes him a threat to anyone, bar perhaps  a few alligators. 

Not clear that constitutionally he can create a militia independent of Federal authority:

Unfortunately, the conservatives know they can't win a fair election with their nutcase ideology and abject lack of policies. Even rigged elections are sliding out of their grasp so talk of civil war is increasing. 

And they will all be stationed at polling booths come election time - or at least in democratic districts

Not to intimidate anyone, just to check that everyone is voting legally you understand...

My immediate thought was how would this work in an emergency if both National and Florida Guard forces were deployed but had different priorities.......
