Yet subsequent to that announcement there's this:

Lineker doubles down on migrant issue
A vindicated Gary Lineker has reiterated his support for refugees after winning his brutal impartiality battle with the BBC.

The issue of free speech was never the real issue.

The comparison was the issue. I like Gary. He was a great footballer, he is a great presenter. He has his own beliefs to which he is entitled. He's also, in my opinion, entitled to air them. His comparison to 1930s Germany was, however, wide of the mark.

He could and should have used a different option in which to make his case.

Indeed.  I do think that he should be asked to go and speak to some survivors of the holocaust so that they can help him to understand the differences between the actual Nazi's and what they did and the current Tory government.   It's never too late for someone to get a bit of education about history.  This will help prevent him from getting a bit confused about policies that are designed to save people from drowning by making a treacherous journey across the English channel with policies that are designed to basically commit genocide and kill millions of people.

Well yes, ideally he would, but like many footballers becoming excellent at football took priority over his educational development so it's not really his fault.   If he insists on continuing to post dimwitted nonsense on Twitter I do think the BBC should help him out by giving him a bit of education that he no doubt missed out on when he was younger.   Meeting survivors of the holocaust or perhaps even visiting Auschwitz would help fill in some of the gaps in his knowledge and would go some way to prevent him comparing things he simply disagrees with to the Nazi's.

I might have missed it in all the blaze of inane publicity but did this champagne socialist, Europhile vent his anger at the French at all ?

What nonsense you alt right people talk, you can't help but misrepresent everything you come across. The tories will be in the bin soon.   Here is an actual holocaust survivor proving the point.

Nice one Gary.  You speak for the best of us.  Not like some of the poison infecting our country.  Nice to see the ongoing slide to medium term oblivion on the part of the nasty/tory party.  I thought Thatcher was bad enough, but this mob are soulless ghouls.

What do you , Linekar and the best of you think about what should U.Ks immigration policy be ?

Should the U.K have an open door policy where anyone from anywhere can come and stay in the U.K for ever ?

What do the "best of you" think should be the U.Ks immigration policy ?

Try not to be so sensitive.   I've no idea what alt-right actually is but I am no fan of the Tories so could not care less what happens to them.   The problem with people on the left though is that they do tend to see minorities as one single homogenous group who all share the same views and are not able to see them as individuals that have their own minds.  Try reading this article to get a different opinion of what other holocaust survivors thought of what Lineker said:

Then she is misled.

There is a vast difference between attempting to defend one's own borders and save lives and attempting to cross borders and invade other countries.

Is there a direct correlation between the UKs immigration policies and Putin's current regime? No. I didn't think so.

Do you think Gary Lineker and I have conversations about UK immigration policy.  Another ridiculous attempt to troll from the far-right board members.

Try not to offer unsolicited advice with no basis in reality or the topic.  Other than that I have no interest in your bloviating.

These soulless ghouls are the ones attempting to stop people dying trying to make the dangerous crossing over the English channel, whereas the "best of us" are the ones attempting to ensure these needless deaths continue.

Wow. You actually think their policy is because they want to save lives??

That is the most outrageous stretch I have ever heard. Nigel Farage would be proud of you for thinking that one up. Geez.

Gary Lineker to return to Match of the Day as BBC's Tim Davie denies climbdown

Gary Lineker will return to present Match of the Day after he was taken off air following an impartiality row after he criticised the government's new asylum policy.

BBC director general Tim Davie said an independent review of BBC social media guidelines would be carried out - but denied the BBC had backed down.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said "it was right" the matter had been resolved.

Four people died crossing the channel in boats a few months ago and and 43 others were saved from drowning , its only a matter of time before there will be another major incident , like in 2021 when 31 people died crossing the channel in boats and a total of 57 people have died trying to sail across since 2018

Absolutely nothing to do with Lineker’s criticism of the language used by the Government when discussing migrants.
