Publicise what happened to him and hope that some people take note of the possible consequences and do not opt to join the idiots club.

Saying "idiots club" is going too far. Millions of people ride motorbike every day in Thailand. What happened to him could be a legit accident and doesn't warrant this kind of panic around riding motorbikes in general.

why are these stories always British?

Something about their culture that makes them inept on two wheels and unable to fund their own medical bills.

I will donate $USD500 again but these people really need to be educated better.

You would wear yr seatbelt in a car regardless. Why not a helmet on a bike?

I agree with you, just saying that in BKK there are loads driving without one too.

Josh Richardson, 24, was involved in an accident in February after he went out on his moped for some food in the middle of the night in Bangkok.

It's normal to get hungry after smoking ganja. Was this what he had been doing?

Well a special type of air ambulance aircraft is required along with a specialist medical team for at least 2 days.

Add to that the costs of visas for the medics and air crew, fuel costs, landing fees, parking fees, the existing hospital costs, the specialist ambulance and crew at each end to move him and the costs mount up considerably and quickly.

Yet as so many people do, he possibly didn't read the very small print specifying the conditions that would have given him the extra cover for a relatively low price. This brings him to where he is now.

the big question I have is where are they getting the price UK or Thailand?

There is not need for visas for the flight crew or medical staff as it would be a turnaround flight. There are companies that specalize in this.

my question though is why do they not know if he had a helmet on.  If he was wearing one it should have been on his head or at least at the accident scene.

The other thing that of course, the Brit newspaper does not cover is the blood alcohol content.

I feel sorry for him and his family but hae a hard time understanding why he was on a bike looking for food in the middle of the night.

It is also interesting that nothing was mentioned in the Thai news about his accident or are they that common now that they are not reported.

We will never know as I'm sure he'll never admit to being in the wrong.

Surprised. Rarely see anyone ride around Bangkok without a helmet. Unless it was a quiet area.

Usually after 4:00 pm when the police have gone and rarely no checkpoints.

I'm guilty of this.

Going off at a tangent for a minute, this is what people can expect if the British government puts healthcare in the hands of insurance companies - refusals to pay.

You say that, but I'm ok with excessive UK smokers and alcohol and obesity insurance that if is not paid off if premiums by smokers and drinkers they get no NHS care !

It's also normal to get hungry after missing lunch or dinner !   Maybe that is what he had done. I hope you don't work for an insurance company

Yet another one. Terrible accident. No helmet. Skull fracture. No insurance. Giant hospital bills. Go Fund Me.

Yep!   You got it..  I was waiting to see the 'Go Fund Me' request..  why should people who do the right thing have to donate to brainless twitts who go out 'in the middle of the night' for food, riding a bike wityhout a helmet?  Alcohol/Drugs involved I would bet my left one on!  Things should clear up once blood tests become available....  I will donate my usual 0.00 thb for these morons!!!!!!
