WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump has asked a federal appeals court to take immediate action to block former Vice President Mike Pence from testifying in the Justice Department’s probe into the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

 

Trump filed an appeal earlier this week in the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington, and on Friday he asked the court to take immediate action.

 

The motion, which is under seal, is for a stay of a lower court judge's ruling requiring Pence to testify and comply with a subpoena from special counsel Jack Smith, who is investigating Trump's role in efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

That obviously makes sense from Trump's point of view.

The Trump inspired mob wanted to hang Pence. And Trump did nothing to stop them. Maybe Pence didn't like that.

The walls are closing in on defendant trump and the traitor is getting scared. Maybe he should take his former lawyer's advise to his present lawyers and run. He has to remember that he still has friends among the dregs of the planet.

Back in 2000 that might have been true. His favourability ratings in polls has declined precipitously as you should have noticed in posts here. It seems some people don't see anything except what they want to see.

 

The only thing that will rid the world of MAGA is to let Trump run and lose again. Dems understand this. Republicans fear it.

Agree, it is a 2-tier justice system. Anyone else but Trump would have been in jail already for quite some time.

It has never been this low since the day of the golden escalator.  A good sign. 

Do realize that it could be within Pence's hands to rid the GOP of this pest: he could be the vanquishing hero or fire up the MAGA lynch mob again.

I maintain there is a good chance he'll go into exile, but probably not this year.  The Big Stink is going to be the Jack Smith case, which will probably not be on the calendar until next year, and the Federal indictment may could very well involve restricting travel. 

And then there is the health issue.  Back when he occupied the WH, and reporters were out on the lawn doing their segments, there would ALWAYS be an ambulance in the background.  Never saw that before.  I haven't noticed that since he left, but maybe there is less excitement in the WH with him gone.  This health paranoia would be a deciding factor in where he'll park his carcass, he'll want "the best" medical care.  NATO countries won't want him, maybe neutral Switzerland?  But if a Federal indictment comes down and he flees the US he'll officially be a criminal on the run.

As the article you linked clearly states, the Judge(s) did not wave any ‘Executive Privilege’, they ruled there was no ‘Executive Privilege’ since the actions by Trump being investigated are crimes out with the Presidential Duties.

 

USA v Nixon already established at the SCOTUS there is no Executive Privilege’ covering actions by the sore side t that are crimes.
