Article is based on previously divorced American divorcing another American. Little relevance to foreigners in Thailand.

  • I personally would suggest thinking again even before marrying for the first time!

  • I'm on my 3rd maiage and it gets better every time. I'm 49 years old and I hope to have another 3 before I croak

50% strike rate. Would you ride on a bus with a 50% crash rate?

Seems most sensible.

Nice positive attitude. Good luck.

In the west where I could lose my house, nope.

In Thailand where I would possibly lose my deposit. Sure.

Hot tip. Don't have kids, so you won't be held hostage. Pro tip. The woman will kick you out because u make no baby and off you go free man again. Never my fault.

I have been married Twice, the first time for about 30 years the second time for about 20 years so what is the problem? And yes, never had any kids either.

I just saw these numbers 74% 3rd time. Seems very high.

is the whole concept of traditional marriage outdated?

Yes

Yes

We're on the same page so far so good.

But what should we replace it with?

I'm not talking about you specifically, still kicking.

but just making a general point.

marriage success is always based on numbers ... the longer it lasts it seems the more successful it is.

my parents were at each other's throats until their dying day like cats and dogs.

many marriages are passionless, dull ...

and not to mention the marriage partner holds you back from accomplishing your dreams sometimes ...

so again, not taking a jab at you, mr beer bottles.

don't take it personally.

Rock on buddy it's not natural for a man to to be married to the same woman for than 20 years or less.

Once was enough for me, although I stuck with it for far too long.

When children are involved there needs to be contracts to secure there welfare .

When there are no children I see no need for contracts . Basic civil arrangement to split up any assets that they have accumulated together . Assets made before the relationship should remain in there ownership.

I have been married once (still married to her) I love her to bits, but I know that if the Marriage ends and I am going to be single and move back to Pattaya :whistling:

I'm on #3.

#1: young death.

#2: became a secret heroin addict from an inheritance that she didn't tell me about.

#3: still excited when I enter a room

#4? Prob won't be that excited when I pop into the room. This really is the last gasps of my hey day.

My first marriage lasted from 1976 until 1997 in the UK.

I am on my second marriage here in Thailand and we celebrated our 23rd anniversary last Friday, plus a further 7 years before that.

Our son is 18, 19 come August 1st.

It works for us.

We also have Thai friends in the UK, Germany and Denmark who have been married longer than us.

Each to his own, I reckon. Some people like a quiet life, others need change.

...or the indoctrination of homogenous thought/convention.

Extremely difficult for most to break away from.

What age do you think the tail ceases to wag when the guy enters the room?

Asking for a friend ????

Are you talking about dogs?

I've never been married and these days I won't even do a LT - I enjoy Dutch ovens but I'm far too considerate to subject anyone else to them.
