That was always going to be the outcome - the new constitution was designed to make sure that the only candidates that are 'allowed' to run the country are those that are aligned with the establishment.  With the biggest voter turnout on record, I think the people have sent a message that they want serious change - will they get it?  I doubt it but if they do, the Army will backtrack on its promise of no more coups.

 

This could go many ways and one of them is a mass demonstration by the people, demanding their will is put into place.  That could involve riots and or something akin to the situation when the Red Shirts were around.  I hate to say it but if it does come to that, I would applaud the people for making a stance.  Hopefully it won't come to that but I'm not holding my breath.

 

The prospects for real change are, I think, slim.  There is either change and the threat of future coups or more elections until the Army get what the new constitution was designed to do - keep the status quo.  The elite families of Thailand are not going to give up their troughs any time soon.

They can't. Modifying section 112 was a main part of their election platform. Can't see how they could back peddle on this one.

I don’t think it matters what the Senators do, as they’ll get him on the shares. It happened before with the founder of MF. If it happens again then Pita, and the party, can only be described as incredibly naïve and very, very foolish.

IMO, all active duty and retired military & police persons who are Senators should abstain. Any with business affiliations which be construed as having a conflict of interest should also abstain. Of course that might leave ~ fifty-ish 'qualified' Senators. OK, bad idea as MF might not get to 376.

Investigation by the EC of Pita allegedly holding 42000 shares in a Media Company sets off alarm bells.

The exact same scenario played out after the last election with the leader of progressive 'Future forward' party disqualified from holding office and the party dissolved. Problem solved.

I have my fingers crossed we don't have to witness a repeat of this tragedy based on trumped up charges.

Do you remember, the Senators are put in power by the army to make sure

no real democratic party can build a government.

There is only way the fear. 

Expose the truth in all onterenational ,edia and social medial.

As long there is no international pressure, they will continue.
