Ruangkrai launches new bid to prevent Pita from becoming prime minister

Serial petitioner Ruangkrai Leekitwattana has urged the Election Commission (EC) to ask the Constitutional Court to rule on whether Move Forward party leader Pita Limjaroenrat is qualified to be an MP, in his latest solo crusade to prevent the party’s candidate from becoming prime minister.

 

Now that the EC has confirmed all 500 MPs in the House of Representatives, Ruangkrai cited Section 98 of the Constitution, saying that, if there is doubt about the qualification of an electoral candidate, because he or she may hold stakes in a media company, the EC can ask the Constitutional Court to consider the case.

 

The activist also said that, according to Section 82 of the Constitution, one-tenth of the MPs or senators can ask the House or the Senate speaker to send their motion to consider the qualification of Pita to the Constitutional Court.

He can untill somebody is really sick of this man and has the guts... He should be investigated where his money comes from, how much he has because he probably don't have a clear history too

Not only does he want to prevent Pita from being rightfully appointed he wants to deny the electoral will of tens of millions. The charades that he is allowed to play have to be prevented. Unless this is done this country will descend into chaos and the anti democratic forces we know only too well will once again grab power.

Do they have the concept of the "vexatious litigant" here - someone who is constantly using the legal processes to further a personal crusade?

 

I understand that in jurisdictions where it exists once a person is ruled by the courts to be a "vexatious litigant" it is not possible to bring any further related cases.

It should be clarified: If the shares are not allowed than he should be disqualified now. It it isn't a problem, than this should be stated. I don't know why this is dragged out forever.

The facts are clear by now. iTV is a media company, but not doing anything with media for years and the shares he has are very minimal.
So either we follow the law by the letter and he is out. Or we interpret the law with common sense and forget the case...but no point to argue about it forever.

it is the job of the EC and courts to clarify it, one way or another. He has all the right to complain there. The facts are clear it shouldn't take weeks to decide it.

Not the guy is the problem the EC and courts are the problem.

really have to wonder how much he is being paid to do this, you can bet that a certain  big wig is behind this as they do not want Thailand to move forward and stop all those making money off the misery of the people, last thing they want is a pm that will stop their greed, the cronyism and graft

Election Commission has a reward system for anyone who can provide evidence of election corruption up to B1 million.

Yes. I always wonder, why is it is such a problem to be obscure about the name of the likely sponsor ?  These names should be mentioned. In many forum topics, we read about brown envelopes, and 'where he gets the money'. Why are we the only ones who raise this query and why we never see an investigation, follow up on these questions ? Are people afraid of something? I thought it is the fundamental of a democracy to get the answers.
