Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
You fail to understand that for some (not for me) the risk of being taxed on ww income is in the Millions of USD. If I look at the Excel sheet you provided with your income and possible tax payment, frankly I would not bother to spend more then 1 hour per week in this thread, agreed. -

Thai beauty queen tricked into paying 800,000 baht for victory
We cannot cower in the face of threats of defamation. These are laws written by small men, to protect criminals, miscreants, those unwilling to offer a good product or service, and other fools. -

A Purpose for Retired Expats in Thailand
"So what’s next? What did you do, or intend to do, once the bars and the bright lights lose their appeal and the "been there, done that" feeling sets in? " That scene lost its appeal to me long before I moved to TH. Never really bothered with it here, as got that all out of my system before arriving. I did the reverse of most folks, Didn't do the family thing. Skipped that an went straight to planning the retirement, while enjoying the S, D & RR. Then retired, and did the family thing, quite unplanned, as thought I'd simply continue on enjoying myself, without doing the family thing ... ever. Turned out, the family thing, is pretty damn cool, and just as much fun & rewarding, if not more so, than the S, D & RR was. Go figure, who would have thought. Now I've been retired of all responsibilities, and this is fun also. Presently at a crossroads now, strange at near 70 yrs old, and actually thinking about playing subsistent farmer. All in, except the 4 legged livestock part. Just chickens, and just enough for eggs. Already got one lot going, and wife picked up 2 more this week. One is almost cleared, and the other, really don't need for anything. Do need a new hobby -

Soldiers in Lopburi camp hospitalised after severe punishment
Don´t care about that! Totally unimportant! What is important for the enemy to know, is that Thailand do not train their soldiers for fighting or a possible invasion nor threat. They actually try to kill their own soldiers. That must be treason on the highest level. 🤣🤣 -

Cannabis-Intoxicated British Man Arrested for Trespassing and Overstay
Firstly, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. But... with some reality and I apologise in advance if the following comments lack empathy, but I believe it an important part of the discussion to consider the impact of many aspects on our lives from work, stresses, substances, pressures, family, relationships etc... Can the consumption of Marijuana make someone suicidal ?... I think it could - but I would suspect greater underlying issues. Could it also be argued that the 'chill' effect of Marijuana prevents people from succumbing to many of life's stressors ????? with the medicinal and pain killing effect also presenting great benefits. As part of the same argument I suspect the effects of Marijuana can also lend to certain behaviour and actions... paranoia is a common one for example... and extended over use of Marijuana can certainly impact the long term behavior of those using heavily. I'm not suggesting this happened to your friend.... but I am questioning if such an extreme response is the result of 'recreational' Marijuana use (again, apologies for any insensitivity). -

Having kids when old
Fulfilling our roles is how we have historically had and raised children and if you’d asked me if this was the best way 30 years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to suggest any alternative. I wasn’t a very present parent, initially I was climbing the corporate ladder and later building my own businesses. My wife was the same, she did what was required, but she wanted her own life too. After coming to Thailand, a failed relationship left me with my partner’s 5 year old child. I wasn’t going to throw the child out of international school and walk away. I knew from the start that letting the child aged 4 live with us was a lifelong commitment whatever happened. Second time around with kids, I did have the financial security to raise her and later her cousin. However, I also had the “ability“ to make my time available to put them first. First time around, I didn’t have the “ability” to do that, and I didn’t want to, my priorities were business, wife, kids in that order. Second time around, my priorities were kids, business in that order with a very heavy weighting on kids. I got the kids up in a morning, fed them, got them to school. Picked them up after school, got them dinner and put them to bed. I have been very much present and I think I’ve done a much better job than my wife and I did together when we had to fulfill our own roles. I couldn’t even have understood that 30 years ago.- 1
