If you could make one law that is enforced nationwide in Thailand - what would it be?

I'd outlaw reading a smart phone while walking.

You go to any public space, especially hypermarts and malls, and half the people there are smart-phone zombies.
They don't have a clue about their surroundings.  I've had all sorts of encounters with the smart-phone walking dead.
The most memorable was when a member of the walking dead, face-down staring at his smart-phone, simple stops on exit platform of an escalator.  With people behind me, I had to literally push him off of it.  I was expecting a confrontation - but the guy didn't even notice.  He didn't skip a beat but just kept reading his phone.

Yeah - there should be a law.

Interesting, I like looking at my phone when walking. People nowadays multitask, I often have to check messages from kids, wife, colleagues, relatives. I sometimes need to check the value of my cryptocurrencies and press that sell/buy button.

The metaverse is getting more popular and soon we will be doing more in a virtual reality, not less.

The Luddites had similar issues with modern technology.

A friend used to read the newspaper while driving, good at it he said.

I would outlaw stupidity. Smart people don't look at their phone while walking or driving. And there are lots of other things which smart people don't do.

Prisons are full with people with tattoos, a lot of criminals have tattoos and (example Olaf) generally Unsavoury people, of course there are exceptions, some collateral damage with a new law like that

I'll start packing....

Oh wait!  I'm in Laos. Phew!  Anyway, I'm off to mug some locals and generally behave in an uncouth manner ????  If the police arrest me, they can justify my behaviour by showing the press the tattoo of my 18-year old niece who died in my arms last year.

(Actually Scuba, I'm not digging at you personally, but it seems nowadays that many 'normal' males have tattoos).

Almost fully agree, but would remove 'there are exceptions'.

Make a law, stating ... laws have to be enforced ...

... more than enough already.

Laws here are about as useful as that helmet in the basket of the scooter when you are crashing.

LOL. Try walking out on the road while "multitasking" and see how long you last!

BTW, the "metaverse" is IMO 99% garbage, but from any look at what is on tv garbage rules today. Social media 5555555555555555555.

Re the OP, a law that any farang that lives in LOS but wants to make it some horrid version of the western <deleted> they escaped from is immediately deported and blacklisted.

None of the people I want to be friends with have tattoos. Conversely, most of the people I want nothing to do with have them.

Of course there are people who are not criminals that have them, but I don't know any personally.

My NZ family are intermarried with Maori and are covered in tattoos, including their faces.

Maybe Maori are the exception, plus the thai girls that have 1 village tattoo on the back

1 law that is enforced....

Make that 1 law be that all existing laws are enforced.

Illegal for waiters to give you a huge menu and just stand there like a log as if you already know what you want to order.

  • 3 weeks later...

One law: No laws, like it used to be here, in the 80's and 90's.
