Mom & Pop shop loading up now in East Pattaya.

I've already stocked up, with 40 baht delivery fee, from local wholesale shop.

As far as I am concerned, ALL temples are closed for (at least) 6 days.????????

What you need to know

Air fare and Hotel prices will double.

Places will still be slow.  Not many Thais can afford to travel far from home.

If BoT website is to be trusted, banks should be open July 31st and August 2nd.

https://www.bot.or.th/en/financial-institutions-holiday.html

There is this subtle difference between national public holiday and government holiday.

There are subtle differences between national public holidays, government holidays and spurious days off pulled from their butts by a reviled, loser, "caretaker" cabinet under the illusion that the people will be thankful.

What you need to know is that people in most companies work on July-31 and August-2

They are talking about civil servants not peasants.

Yes they are it's not a bank holiday, just another jolly day off for the civil servants etc

According to the linked article the "no alcohol" days are Tuesday 1 August and Wednesday 2 August.

But they are not that unhuman: with a valid ID showing it's your birthday, you're allowed to buy alcoholic drinks, (my case ????).

In 12 years here I only experienced 1 time being denied buying beer

And the local villa market sells alcohol 24/7/365 all day.

According to -

https://thailandformats.com/no-alcohol-days/2023

. . . the alcohol free days are Tuesday 01 & Wednesday 02 August.

I was also told the King's BD (28 July) could be alcohol free - but I do not think this is the case. Could be mixed up with Tuesday 05 December which is alcohol free. That is the last King's BD & also Father's day.

The King's birthday is not alcohol free. The late King made that decision.

Stupid baiting comment. From the OP: "Thailand is set to enjoy an extra-long SIX day weekend this weekend"
