Popular Post webfact Posted July 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 30, 2023 Pattaya — A Thai man was fined for punching a South Korean live streamer who was live-streaming Pattaya’s night scene near Pattaya Beach. The assailant claimed that he punched the victim because the victim refused to stop recording him and allegedly flipped him off. The violence first came to public attention through a Facebook user named “Social Hunter 2021,” who on Friday, July 28th, shared a 24-second video clip depicting an incident at Pattaya beach. In the video, two Thai men could be seen arguing with a South Korean man before one of them punched him in the face, resulting in him bleeding. Social Hunter 2021 noted in a social media post that the men seemed peeved at being recorded by the tourist. They asked him to stop, but the tourist refused and showed them a middle finger, leading to the altercation, said Social Hunter 2021. Following this incident, The Pattaya News interviewed Pol Lt Col Pichaya Kheawpluang, who took charge of the case, about what had happened. He said that the South Korean tourist, identified as Mr. Eunsung Lee, 36, was live-streaming on YouTube on Pattaya Beach, showing what the night scene looked like, when he accidentally recorded a group of Thai men drinking alcohol by the beach. Popular Post Summerinsiam Posted July 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 30, 2023 I am surprised it doesn't happen more often. In my estimation, the vast majority of these so called live-streamers and thai-bloggers have a lot to answer for and are a complete waste of space. 12 2
Popular Post bkk6060 Posted July 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 30, 2023 Exploitation of Thai people to get views. They should all be banned. 2 3

Nobody has a right to privacy in their minds. <snip> 6 1 3
Popular Post KhunBENQ Posted July 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 30, 2023 Well deserved and a fairly cheap lesson. Refusing to stop and showing the finger to Thai males. Could have gone much worse. 5 2

Should be able to negotiate some sort of group discount, along the lines of "punch 3 get 2 free" BTW is there any crowdfunding for the one who punched the jerk? 2 2

The ones that do it in the gym are even more annoying. Especially as the gym is a private place. There needs to be a bit more legislation on this, as it is relatively new. A beach or a mall is a public place, but what if you don't want to be in someone's "stream"? 1 1

I'm sure some people enjoy making or watching livestreams, but doing so somewhere where people might not want to be recorded seem a little naïve.

Popular Post JonnyF Posted July 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 31, 2023 Good job Anupong. These live streamers are a scourge. Filming in these entertainment areas should be illegal and huge fines issued. 3 1
Popular Post BTB1977 Posted July 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 31, 2023 Being in public means anyone may look at you and see you. So at any given time depending on how crowded it is a thousand people my look in your direction and see you. It's called being in the public. If you get upset about that you would be fighting hundreds of people every day. There is no reasonable privacy in a public place. How stupid are people in public to get butt hurt because someone saw them. 2 1
alien365 Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 So the Korean man got fined 1, 000baht too for quarrelling and being a public nuisance. Odd considering the police also confirmed it is legal to record there and some guys berated him for it. I really don't like how flexible the law can be at times. Get punched in the face twice and you get fined! Was most likely down to flipping the bird, which as far as I know is globally universal in meaning. 1
SportRider Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 There are some falang video YouTubers that are entertaining and informative, and also respectful - asking if it's ok to record. But, there are also 'faceless' YouTubers that *secretly* record, following girls and couples around the streets. One is often recording and posting videos from Soi Buakow... But it is covert - the people don't know they are being recorded. They seem to ignore the camera...ie don't know there is one. A focal point is the 7-11 close by to the upstairs gym. Looking at the camera angle, it seems as though from waist height. Or maybe the height of a wheelchair... Does anyone know who is making these videos and what kind of hidden camera rig they have? I find them disrespectful and distasteful. 1

Not your choice when you're out in public. Best is to just ignore it and move as causing a scene about it will guarantee that you will be featured. 1
