Someone's read the link although I think you'll find that they were just referred to as "homosexuals", and not necessarily very loving ones!

From the news reports, it sounds like "dismembered" would be the better description vs "decapitated,"

From the news reports it actually sounds as though "decapitated" was the correct word as his head was put in a travel bag and dumped in the sea near his hotel.

The OP report, as quoted below, indicates the victim was in more pieces than just two (head and torso).

"The next day, Thursday (Aug. 3) a human pelvic bone with male  genitalia was found in a garbage bag with the price tag attached at a rubbish dump. At 9 a.m. today two parts of a human right leg were found at this same dump."

The same report, in the lede, correctly refers to the case as one of "murder and dismemberment."

According to the BP, the Spanish lad has confessed to the murder.

He already did that yesterday. With some reports suggesting that he bought the incriminating equipment prior to the arrival of his ‘friend’.

Not to be pedantic but a "serial killer" is a person who kills multiple victims, usually three or more.  This dude appears to have a way to go to reach that status.

Wasn't a Spanish guy convicted of a similar crime in Bangkok some years ago?

Yes. Maybe 3 years ago.  Another dismemberment as well.  Stuffed the victim into a freezer.

I think it was 7 years ago, 2016, when I still lived there.

Is there a life insurance policy?
