Tourist Police Explain "Skateboard Incident" at Don Mueang airport

In a video clip released on August 10, 2023, from Don Mueang Airport, a foreign tourist caused a disturbance, leading three Tourist Police officers to intervene.

 

Tourist Police Command, led by Lt. Col. Santhikorn Vorawan, addressed the incident, which occurred on August 9, 2023, around 10:30 PM. Tourist Police of Unit 3, Tourist Police Division 1 (Don Mueang), received a report of Chinese tourists loudly protesting within the international departure area, reported Naewna.

 

 

Upon investigation, they identified the instigator as Mr. Chen Xinhua, a 45-year-old Chinese tourist. He was vociferous due to dissatisfaction with airline personnel denying his boarding for a return trip to China, potentially disturbing other passengers. The aircraft captain refused him due to his disruptive behavior.

 

Upon arrival, officers found the agitated Chinese tourist still expressing dissatisfaction.

 

The officers contained the situation to avoid affecting other passengers. Initially angry and unruly, Mr. Chen attempted to use physical force against the officers but was calmed down through communication.

 

He eventually accepted the airline's decision and agreed to follow protocol. The Tourist Police coordinated with the airline, enabling Mr. Chen to depart on August 10, 2023, at 7:25 PM, bound for Xian, People's Republic of China.

 

Throughout the incident, the Tourist Police balanced their duties, considering the overall impact on tourism.

 

They employed a diplomatic approach, avoiding force and resolving the matter through dialogue, ensuring a smooth service experience at the airport.

Next time a taser, baton strike, choke hold and handcuff would show they do not take BS from crazy foreigners here.

This is the one time (only one?) I have seen 3 Thais and 1 foreigner where the confrontation is 1 on 1 and the other 2 Thais just stand by and watch. I suppose would have wrinkled up their spiffy uniforms if all  3 rushed and rightfully dumped him on his backside

Actually, I wonder if the whole story isn't an RTP publicity stunt. The whole thing is very reminiscent of  training videos. No apparent stress, from both the perp and the officers.

This is one instance, where I think the police not only behaved properly, but were downright graceful in the way they handled this goon. I do not think the cop was ever in danger, and it appeared that they knew they had the creep under control. Kudos to them. An over reaction, or an American style "police commando response" would have gotten alot of bad press.

I have seen it a few times in Hua Hin and elsewhere, they had the same approach with dead drunk aggressive tourists.

Come on. This is an embarrassment for the police. Absolutely incompetent with hundreds of people watching and taking videos. The other 2 should have grabbed him and cuffed him.
