Phuket – Sixteen students were rescued after an elevator’s door was unable to be opened for about half an hour at a university in Mueang Phuket.

The Phuket City Police, The Phuket Express, and emergency responders were called on Monday (August 21st) in the afternoon to the university in Rassada.

The elevator caretakers were unable to open the elevator’s door. Rescue workers use a jaw of life to force open the elevator door.

This is news? There was an incident in China maybe 10 years ago where they were taking an elevator out of service. They sent it to the lowest level and disabled it. Turns out they forgot to check and some lady was still in the elevator when they shut it down. Months later they found the body.

Now that's news. Hell of a way to go.

Happened every day many times at Manchester. It would be OK at the upper floors but the cables would stretch at the lower levels so the elevator would not line up with the floor. The works dept guys could manually crank it up a few inches till the door lined up and would open. "Stuck in the elevator" was a common excuse for being late for a lecture.

Looks more like a wrecking bar from the nearest car boot.................lift surround shows signs of several attempts.

Ah...they were unable and the jaws of life 1/2 hour later did the trick......

I'd be more than surprised if the load capacity was that amount,(16) and more than likely the reason the door jammed in the first place.

I'm glad to hear that all sixteen students were safely rescued. Elevator mishaps can be scary, but it's reassuring to know that they were promptly rescued from the situation. Stay safe out there, everyone!
