Family tragedy: Father’s triple murder-suicide linked to loan scam

A family tragedy occurred when a father, armed with a utility knife, killed his wife and two children in their three-storey townhouse in Bang Phli district of Bangkok Metropolitan Area province Samut Prakan. The horrific murder and attempted suicide were most likely prompted by a fraudulent loan scheme that landed the family in 7-figure debt.

 

Yesterday, around 1am, Police Captain Sathamon Prasertsuwan, an investigative officer at Bang Kaeo Police Station, was informed of a murder case involving multiple fatalities within a residence on Narm Daeng Wat Road, Bang Kaeo Subdistrict, Bang Phli District.

 

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the lifeless bodies of Wipaporn, 44, and her sons, 9 and 13 years old, each with deep gashes on their necks and various parts of their bodies.

The second floor held another grim scene, furthering the tragedy of this family. The body of a 13 year old boy, and the gravely injured father, 41 year old Sanchai, with severe wounds on his neck and wrists. He was promptly given first aid before being rushed to Paolo Samut Prakan Hospital. A blood-stained utility knife was found at the scene.

Police and forensic officers at the scene of Monday morning’s horrific tragedy in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, after police responded at 1.30 am alert after 43-year-old Sanich Dokmai was reported to have murdered his wife and two sons when he snapped over financial pressures.

Disturbing murder of a wife and two young boys in Samut Prakan on Monday morning linked directly with online the same loss incurred by the family recently, plunging them into ruinous levels of informal and personal debt. The perpetrator of the murders, 43-year-old Sanich Dokmai was found alive at the scene having tried to commit suicide.

A man plagued by debt demands and facing government action over a court judgement murdered his wife and two young sons in Samut Prakan in the early hours of Monday morning. He stabbed them to death. On arrival at the scene, police officers heard from a 46-year-old witness, a woman and friend of the perpetrator, who had raced to the scene to prevent the tragedy after receiving a midnight call form 42-year-old Sanich Dokmai, the perpetrator, that the family had recently been the victim of a scammer hoax which saw ฿1.7 million lost.

 

A 43-year-old Thai man murdered his family early on Monday morning in an appalling tragedy to which police responded at 1.30 am.

She initially borrowed 100,000 baht but was tricked into transferring over 1 million baht to various accounts for processing fees.

 

I read a few months ago that scammers target Thais because they're so gullible, Here's one.

I wonder what this was, if get into debt due to a scam you'd hope the courts might be a way to provide help in some way rather than further harm by chasing the debts through court.

I do not even know what to say. Very tragic. Very bizarre. Two Thai friends of mine, recently paid 80,000 baht each to an agency, for overseas work. They went to Bangkok, to take an english language proficiency test, then never heard back. Later, they found out they were scammed, along with 100 others.

 

My question to them was, what kind of due diligence work did you do? Did you ask for references from people who had already worked overseas, under that program? They claimed it was a govt. program, administered under the department of labor. Did you ever call the department of labor to inquire? Did you ask to see the license, or the contracts first? Why was the money sent by wire transfer? Why was it sent to an individual, rather than an official agency. There were red flags everywhere you looked, yet they were continued to believe, and ended up totally duped.

 

There is a whole subculture in this world, who absolutely refuse to work for a living, and instead like to prey on those who are vulnerable, naive, dumb, and easy victims. It is our responsibility to be careful, prudent, willing to do some vetting, some research, some due diligence, anytime we part with cash. Especially online. Dealing with Ebay, Lazada, Amazon is one thing. You have recourse. But, dealing with Facebook vendors, Instagram, Youtube, dating sites, or any other social media, the scammers outweigh the real deals. People get taken every day. I get junk emails offering me at least $100 million a month.

 

These people are parasites, they barely deserve the oxygen they consume, and we must do everything in our power to deny the online worms.

Aren't people wonderful. And there's no point in saying that most people are good and honest. They aren't the problem. As you say, there are many who are. No morals, no honour, no empathy. Human $hit.

 

In Thailand, the soaps that so many Thais love to watch could do scenes depicting people who have suffered from scams and how they can be avoided. And at the same time they could emphasise the dangers and results of bad driving as well, which might wake a few people up. But no. They consist of screaming contests and rich people belittling the poor, which I guess in part reflects the culture.

When I see a Thai watching that garbage, I cringe. They are obsessed with those zany stories. Not much being taught in the way of morality.
