Parliament has, for a long time, provided free meals for parliamentary officials, MPs and senators, but public attention has been drawn to alleged irregularities by an MP, from the Bhumjaithai party, who took a photo of Move Forward MP Sirilapas Kongtrakarn taking home some food from the canteen.

Sirilapas, a former actress, is a first time MP. The Bhumjaithai MP posted the picture on Facebook, with a caption implying that Sirilapas was smuggling the food home.

The image went viral and Sirilapas was forced to defend herself, saying she has the right to take the food as it had been left untouched. The canteen staff put the food in bags and place them on the tables every day for anyone to take home.

They'll try anything to get rid of MFP. They kept them out of their rightful position in government now it's time to get rid of them in opposition. This, however, is the action of child from a BJT MP who isn't named. WHY? If a complaint has been made it must be known who from. This fool is in government and thinks he has found a smoking gun. What a tosser.

How about putting the food in bags as she stated was the procedure but instead of taking it home go outside and give it to those homeless Thais living on the streets I was in Bangkok in February and was astonished by the amount of people sleeping on the streets my heart went out to them there was a street food seller it was midnight I purchased all her food and told her to hand it out to those in her immediate area which she did as I watched her do it there area was a 5 minute walk from Soi Cowboy

That would set a dangerous precedent, people may think politicians are developing a heart! ????

That would probably lead to petitions from the yellow underpants brigade alleging that she was trying to gain undue influence or something...

Fear of a defamation lawsuit maybe,

Revealing the name would possibly damage their reputation.

Many Thais take home any free food whenever they can. That this news item is about a MFP MP, after all the ways this party was kept from taking power, may or may not be a coincidence. (Probably not.)

I - for one - would rather care about the "food" being wheelbarrowed out of parliamentarians blessed troughs ????

They've not been named, but from the article.

"Thai netizens tracked down the MP who posted the photo and bombarded his Facebook with harsh comments, forcing him to close his account."

Maybe that is why she took it. To give to somebody less fortunate.

MFP accused of stealing food from parliment.

How about... PT / BJT / and co accused of stealing parliment from the people.

One of those accusation is plainly false.

You decide.

Such important matters of state.
